Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on NOC Team Lead to run the day-to-day operation of our 24x7 GPU infrastructure environment. You will lead and develop a team of NOC engineers while remaining technically involved in GPU node diagnostics, bare-metal provisioning, incident response and data-centre operations.
You will also coordinate the suppliers and on-site partners who carry out physical work, including smart-hands teams, OEMs, facilities contractors and network carriers. This role suits an experienced NOC Team Lead, or a senior NOC engineer ready to take on broader people, service and operational responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the 24x7 NOC team, including training, skills development and shift performance.
- Remain hands-on with GPU server faults, bare-metal provisioning, firmware, BMC, re-imaging, networking and hardware diagnostics.
- Act as the NOC’s first technical escalation point and lead major incidents before escalation to SRE.
- Own NOC performance, SLAs, ticket quality, shift handovers and the 4-on, 4-off day/night rota.
- Monitor GPU infrastructure end to end and manage the full node lifecycle from diagnosis and repair through to burn-in and return to service.
- Coordinate smart hands, OEMs, facilities contractors and network carriers, ensuring work is completed safely and within agreed SLAs.
- Manage vendor support cases and RMAs with partners such as NVIDIA and HPE.
- Maintain accurate asset records, runbooks, known-error documentation and operational processes.
- Produce NOC reporting covering incidents, response and resolution times, backlog, GPU availability and supplier performance.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults, strengthening processes and improving how the team operates.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in NOC, infrastructure or data-centre operations, with team leadership or mentoring experience.
- Strong hands-on Linux and bare-metal server skills, including BMC/IPMI/Redfish, firmware, provisioning and hardware troubleshooting.
- Good networking knowledge across Layer 2/3, routing, switching, optics and cabling.
- Experience leading incidents, working to SLAs and using ITIL-based incident, problem and change processes.
- Experience with monitoring and ITSM tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, HaloPSA or ServiceNow.
- Experience managing suppliers and smart-hands partners, with a calm, organised approach to working in a 24x7 environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with NVIDIA GPU infrastructure, including HGX, DCGM, nvidia-smi, NVLink/NVSwitch and GPU diagnostics.
- Knowledge of InfiniBand/RoCE, Kubernetes or Slurm, and infrastructure automation such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Familiarity with data-centre facilities, NetBox/DCIM, hardware RMAs and Python or Bash scripting.
- Experience in GPU cloud, bare-metal hosting, colocation or managed services.
