About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Data Modeller to join our data team and play a key role in designing and implementing structured data models across our medallion architecture — with a primary focus on the Silver (cleansed/conformed) and Gold (business-ready/aggregated) layers. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is modelled accurately, consistently, and in a way that drives value across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data models for the Silver layer (cleansed, deduplicated, and conformed data) and Gold layer (aggregated, business-logic-applied, reporting-ready data)
- Create and manage source-to-target mapping documents to clearly define data lineage from raw ingestion through to consumption layers
- Collaborate with data engineers to translate business requirements into logical and physical data models
- Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and modelling best practices across the data platform
- Work with business and analytics teams to understand reporting and analytical requirements and reflect them in Gold-layer structures
- Identify and resolve data quality, consistency, and integrity issues during modelling and mapping exercises
- Document data models, transformation rules, and mapping specifications to ensure traceability and auditability
- Participate in data governance initiatives, supporting metadata management and data cataloguing efforts
- Review and validate transformation logic applied between Bronze → Silver and Silver → Gold layers
- Contribute to the evolution of the overall data architecture and medallion framework
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Modeller, Data Architect, or similar role within a modern data platform environment
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layering) and the purpose of each layer
- Hands-on experience with source-to-target mapping and data lineage documentation
- Proficiency in dimensional modelling (star schema, snowflake schema) and normalised/denormalised design approaches
- Experience with data modelling tools such as erwin, dbt, Dataedo, or similar
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery)
- Strong SQL skills for validating and prototyping data structures and transformations
- Ability to engage with both technical teams and business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements
- Good documentation skills — comfortable producing mapping specs, data dictionaries, and model diagrams
- Nice to Have
- Experience with dbt for managing Silver/Gold transformations and model documentation
- Exposure to data governance frameworks or tools (e.g. Collibra, Alation, Purview)
- Familiarity with Delta Lake or similar open table formats
- Understanding of data mesh or domain-oriented data modelling principles
- Critical thought leader, crossfunctional leadership across GT functions in advancing EXL Unified architecture, design and process;
- Establish highly productive partnerships with functional team, partners in the delivery of enterprise digital solutions;
- Proactively engage/lead enterprise digital initiatives to improve usage, stability and business value.
- Bachelor Degree Min 10 years
