As Vice President, Data Privacy & Technology Counsel, you will be the senior privacy and technology legal advisor for our EMEA region and a driving force behind FactSet's global privacy program. This is a high-visibility role that partners directly with Compliance, Information Security, Product, and Engineering leadership to enable responsible innovation, including artificial intelligence, while keeping FactSet ahead of a fast-moving global regulatory landscape.
You will report to the Associate General Counsel. This is a hybrid role based in our London office.
What You'll Do
Lead the global privacy program - Design, lead, and continuously mature FactSet's comprehensive global privacy program and policy framework, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, CCPA, and other applicable laws and data governance standards across the regions where FactSet operates (US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, India, China, and the Philippines).
Serve as senior technology & AI counsel - Advise the business on the legal and regulatory implications of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning; shape responsible-AI governance and readiness for frameworks such as the EU AI Act; and embed privacy- and security-by-design across FactSet's products.
Own data terms & cross-border transfers - Lead the negotiation and standardization of data privacy and technology terms in client, supplier, and partner agreements, and oversee mechanisms for lawful international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, transfer impact assessments, and binding corporate rules.
Drive privacy risk & incident response - Direct privacy reviews, data protection impact assessments, and enterprise data mapping; and act as senior legal advisor to the Cybersecurity Crisis Management team, leading the legal response to security incidents involving personal or sensitive data.
Engage regulators & build awareness - Build relationships with data protection regulators globally, coordinate responses to inquiries and notifications, monitor legislative developments, and lead privacy training, awareness, and data subject rights processes across the firm.
Interaction with stakeholders: You will work closely with FactSet attorneys across the US, Europe, and APAC, and partner regularly with the Chief Information Security Officer, the Chief Compliance Officer, and Product, Engineering, and business leadership globally.
