About your role

As a Database Engineering - Advisor I, you will design, administer, and optimize database environments that support business operations and client-facing solutions. You will work with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver secure, available, and high-performing database platforms that enable reliable data access, integration, and operational continuity across Fiserv.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain database solutions that support application, reporting, and operational requirements
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance to improve availability, stability, and efficiency
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align database architecture, data access, and integration processes with business and enterprise technology needs
• Perform database audits, health checks, and capacity reviews, and recommend upgrades, configuration changes, and process improvements
• Support database security, backup, recovery, patching, and disaster recovery activities to protect data integrity and platform resilience
• Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation for database administration, performance tuning, and operational support
• Evaluate emerging database technologies and administrative practices to support continuous improvement

Experience you'll need to have

• 6+ years of experience in database engineering, database administration, or database platform support in enterprise environments
• 3+ years of experience administering and supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments
• 3+ years of experience administering and supporting Oracle Database environments
• 3+ years of experience performing database performance tuning, query optimization, and root cause analysis
• 3+ years of experience implementing database security controls, user access management, and data protection practices
• 3+ years of experience supporting data integration, extract transform load (ETL) processes, and data movement across systems
• 1+ years of Fiserv systems experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience

Experience that would be great to have

Experience supporting PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments

Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries

Experience supporting high-availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions

How you'll work

This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity
