Product Group Anchor – Industrial Systems Analytics (ISA)About Ford Motor Company

Ford is a data-centric organization that makes data-driven decisions at every level, using AI to solve complex cost and quality challenges at scale. Within Industrial Systems Analytics (ISA), we don't just use data to build applications, we build intelligent systems that support the future of mobility. If you want to work in an environment where your code directly impacts the efficiency and quality of millions of vehicles, Ford is the place for you.

The Role

We're seeking a Product Group Anchor: a senior engineer who is the hands-on technical constant within a single product group in the Industrial Systems Analytics (ISA) portfolio. This is a deeply execution-focused role. You will be the person who turns organizational strategy into well-built, well-tested, working software, day in and day out.

As the anchor for your product group, you provide technical continuity and depth. You know the codebases intimately, you make sound design decisions within the group's scope, and you keep delivery moving at a high standard of quality. You work in the flow with your teammates — pairing, reviewing, and modeling good engineering practice — rather than directing from above. Strong communication skills and the ability to stay productive in an ambiguous, fast-changing environment are essential, and you apply strategy set by technical leaders faithfully and effectively.

Hands-On Delivery: Build, test, and ship high-quality Java/Python backends and Angular/React frontends within your product group. Spend your time deeply embedded in the code, delivering features and fixes that meet the group's commitments.

Applied Architecture: Make sound design and implementation decisions within your product group's systems, working within the architectural direction and standards set for the portfolio. Keep applications performant, portable, and well-suited to the cloud platform they run on.

Engineering Quality: Apply and uphold established best practices — branching strategies, code review, DevSecOps workflows, and AI-enabled test harnesses — to keep delivery seamless and developer velocity high.

AI-Assisted Development: Use modern AI coding agents and spec-driven development in your daily workflow to accelerate delivery and produce high-quality artifacts. Apply AI-assisted problem-solving to the group's real engineering challenges.

Agentic Systems Development: Build agentic capabilities on top of current and emerging data platform features — autonomous, intelligent system behaviors and automated data workflows that serve your product group's needs.

Peer Support & Knowledge Sharing: Model good engineering within the group and help teammates level up through pairing, code review, and sharing what you know. This is support in the flow of work — not people leadership or formal performance management.

Cost-Aware Engineering: Weigh the cost and performance implications of the technical choices you make, so the group's solutions are right-sized — fiscally responsible as well as technically sound.

Clear Communication: Explain technical work clearly to teammates and to stakeholders of varying technical depth, keeping the product group and its partners aligned on what's being built and why.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience as a hands-on contributor, with a track record of delivering production software.
  • Expertise in Java and Python (backend) and Angular or React (frontend).
  • Competence with Big Data technologies, ideally BigQuery and advanced SQL.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipeline development, using tools like Terraform.
  • Experience with the Google Cloud Platform, or equivalent public cloud experience.
  • Strong command of modern branching strategies, DevSecOps workflows, and core engineering principles.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tooling (e.g. OpenCode, ClaudeCode, GitHub Copilot) in your personal workflow to accelerate delivery and ensure high-quality artifacts.
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities (Nice to Have)
  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Depth in leveraging AI coding agents and large language models (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI) to accelerate the SDLC and build AI-enabled test harnesses.
  • Experience in agentic development, building autonomous agents that interact with complex data platform capabilities.
  • Experience pairing with and supporting other engineers to raise the quality of the code the group ships.
  • A habit of staying current with industry trends and quickly getting productive in new technical domains as the work demands.
  • Excellent communication skills, with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
