  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • At least one actuarial exam passed, and a commitment to pursuing the CAS designation.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical results to non-actuaries.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar tools preferred.
  • Interest in applying AI tools thoughtfully to actuarial work, with good judgment about accuracy and appropriate use preferred.
  • Familiarity with MGA business or specialty commercial lines preferred.
  • Progress toward or completion of another insurance designation (CPCU, ARe, etc.) preferred.

Primary Job Functions

Support senior actuaries in reviewing new program opportunities.

Prepare regular rate indications for assigned states and programs using standard actuarial methods.

Analyze program and segment performance to help identify areas for growth and areas needing corrective action.

Help develop rate recommendations that balance profitability, market conditions, and regulatory constraints.

Research peer company filings to support rate development where internal data is limited.

Prepare rate filing analyses and exhibits that meet state-specific requirements and filing checklists.

Draft responses to DOI objections, working with senior actuaries and compliance to meet deadlines.

Work with compliance to ensure filings are submitted on time.

Partner with the CAT modeling and reinsurance team to understand which segments drive probable maximum loss (PML).

Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders such as underwriting, compliance, and MGA partners, and, with guidance, to senior actuarial management and regulators.

Support other initiatives, including reserving reviews for assigned segments and data requests.

The above cited duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to the job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that an incumbent may be expected or asked to perform.
