Job Description Summary

The Design Engineering Leader, Power Conversion and Control Products leads multiple functional engineering groups responsible for the design, development, integration, qualification, and lifecycle support of power conversion and control products. This role sets technical direction, establishes execution rigor, and drives cross-functional alignment to deliver measurable outcomes in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

Operating with broad autonomy, the leader is accountable for building organizational capability and predictable execution across the product lifecycle. The role requires strong technical judgment and the ability to drive timely, well-documented trade-offs across performance, risk, cost, manufacturability, and schedule, while maintaining compliance with applicable processes and standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for power conversion and control products, translating business and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and a practical roadmap.
  • Lead across disciplines by developing functional managers and senior technical leaders, setting clear expectations, and reinforcing a culture of accountability and ownership.
  • Drive day-to-day execution for both NPI and sustaining work by actively managing scope, schedule, resourcing, and cross-team dependencies to make delivery predictable.
  • Ensuring requirements flowdown, allocation, and verification are aligned across systems, hardware, and software so the full product meets design intent.
  • Ensure qualification readiness by aligning lab/test capacity, removing blockers, and maintaining compliant, high-integrity test evidence.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to deliver producible, cost-competitive designs that support rate readiness and protect customer outcomes.
  • Own engineering release quality across drawings/models, BOMs, requirements, analyses, and test reports by preventing escapes through standards, reviews, and disciplined change control.
  • Lead supplier technical engagement by making requirements unambiguous, ensuring reviews are effective, and driving fast containment and corrective action on supplier-driven issues.
  • Operate with a cadence using daily/weekly/monthly rhythms, visual management, and clear escalation paths to surface problems early and protect Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
  • Coach problem-solving and continuous improvement by using standard approaches, corrective action discipline, and standard work to improve SQDC
  • Build organizational capability by attracting, developing, and retaining talent, and strengthening technical excellence through coaching, succession planning, and targeted skill building.
  • Communicate clearly and early on status, risks, and decisions by bringing data, trade-offs, and recommended paths forward to enable timely leadership decisions.
