Job Description Summary
The Digital Engineering Ecosystem (DEE) team is responsible for building a modern digital engineering platform for an advanced military propulsion program. The DEE is an enterprise-scale data platform that serves as the single source of truth for all program information—design models, simulation data, test results, manufacturing specs, and more. Think of it as creating the "operating system" for complex aerospace engineering, connecting CAD tools, databases, analytics platforms, and collaboration software into a unified ecosystem that enables real-time collaboration between our teams, suppliers, and DoD customers.
This program will take an advanced engine concept through design, development, vehicle integration, testing, and qualification. The DEE will be the digital backbone that makes this possible - permission-based collaborative network with a common data repository that enables seamless information flow and accelerates engineering delivery.
As the DEE Engineer for Advanced Product Development (APD), you'll architect, develop, and operate critical components of this platform. You'll build APIs and data services that connect engineering tools, develop dashboards that give leadership real-time program visibility, design data pipelines that integrate with customer systems, and implement the infrastructure that makes engineering data accessible and actionable.
You'll also be a key leader in identifying and implementing AI/ML solutions within the DEE—exploring opportunities to apply artificial intelligence to engineering workflows, automating data analysis, accelerating design decisions, and unlocking insights from the massive datasets generated throughout the program lifecycle.
This role requires strong software engineering skills, experience with platform integration and API development, and expertise in data management at scale. A passion for exploring and implementing AI technologies is essential—you should be excited about the potential to apply machine learning, natural language processing, and other AI capabilities to aerospace engineering challenges. You'll work across organizational boundaries with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, so you need to be self-motivated and comfortable driving technical solutions in a collaborative environment.
This is a high-impact role: the platform you build will enable collaboration with our customer's digital ecosystem, serve as the foundation for engine qualification and production, and ultimately support fielding and sustainment operations for years to come. You'll drive innovation in how engineering teams work, making complex aerospace development faster, more data-driven, and more effective.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust digital ecosystem that supports engineering work, collaboration, and data integration with our customers and Edison Works program team.
- Develop dashboards and APIs connected to the information in the DEE to provide customers and program leadership situational awareness of the program and facilitate real time decision-making.
- Develop and execute a strategy for DEE data management ensuring customer requirements and IP protection goals are met.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and accessibility of engineering data, including design documentation, CAD models, simulation analysis, and test results within the DEE.
- Ensure seamless integration and interoperability of digital tools within the DEE.
- Proactively monitor DEE system performance and implement improvements to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Work with the Digital Technology (DT) team and Information Assurance (IA) team to implement software solutions within the DEE and coordinate support for networking infrastructure.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in digital engineering and data analytics and continuously improve existing tools and processes to enhance the effectiveness of the DEE.
- Incorporate the use of lean/flight deck methodologies within the DEE.
