Project Manager - PT Service

Stafford, TX In person Full-time

Location: Stafford

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is looking for a Project Manager to join our Power Transmission Service team in Stafford, UK. In this role you will take full ownership of a varied portfolio of service projects across the UK and Ireland, acting as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders alike. You will be responsible for delivering each project safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while building lasting relationships with some of the most significant names in the UK transmission and distribution sector.

About the role

GE Vernova is a global leader in electrification and energy transition. Our Power Transmission Service business manages the lifecycle of high-voltage equipment installed across the UK's transmission network, covering everything from circuit breakers and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) to power transformers and disconnectors. Our customers are mainly British grid network operators, and the work we do keeps the UK's electricity infrastructure running reliably and safely.

This is a role where no two days are the same. You will manage a high-volume portfolio of projects ranging in value and complexity, collaborate daily with a close-knit team of engineers, field service professionals, and commercial specialists, and bring genuine accountability and clarity to every project you own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver a portfolio of service projects from order transfer through to final acceptance certificate and cash collection, ensuring all Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets are met.
  • Develop and maintain accurate project costs, timescales, and contingency plans throughout each project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary customer interface for your assigned projects, managing correspondence, attending site and customer meetings, and maintaining strong professional relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and communicate project requirements across internal functions including engineering, EHS, procurement, quality, tendering, and field service teams.
  • Own and maintain project risk registers, identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks and opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all project variations, contract changes, and early warning notices are captured and processed correctly.
  • Produce accurate monthly project management reports for internal review.
  • Lead Gate Reviews with key project stakeholders, ensuring all technical and financial authorisations are in place.
  • Ensure timely invoice raising and proactive management of outstanding debts in line with project milestones.
  • Support a culture of safety and quality by implementing all project-specific EHS requirements and conducting site visits as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across different values and stages of delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex situations and engage effectively with customers and internal teams at all levels.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, matrix organisation environment.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and commercial contract principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP or project management platforms.
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport (occasional UK site visits required).
  • Possession of current unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Nice-to-have qualifications

  • Experience working in the UK power transmission and distribution sector, or familiarity with network operators and the HV equipment market.
  • Background in or exposure to high-voltage switchgear, substations, or related electrical infrastructure.
  • Formal project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2, PMP) or equivalent structured project management training.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering, science, or business-related discipline.
