GE Vernova Technology/Software

Product Manager Control & Protection Systems (M/F/D) / Chef de Produit – Systèmes de Contrôle et de Protection (m/f/x)

Berlin, Germany +3 In person Full-time

Location: Stafford

Job Description Summary

The control and protection (C&P) systems at the heart of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and grid stability technologies don't manage themselves, they need someone who can see the full picture: technical depth, product strategy, and the market forces shaping how the world generates and moves energy. That person is you.

As Product Manager – Control & Protection Systems, you set the strategic direction for a critical portfolio of grid technologies. You connect engineering capability to market need, shape long-term roadmaps, and help ensure that GE Vernova's C&P systems remain technically excellent, commercially competitive, and ready for what the energy transition demands next.

What You Will Do

Define and drive the product roadmap for C&P systems across transmission and grid stability solutions, including HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems) applications. Owning priorities, investment direction, and long-term portfolio strategy.

Functionally guide a team of product owners across C&P algorithms for VSC (Voltage Source Converter) and LCC (Line Commutated Converter) technologies, control and protection platforms, and converter electronics and firmware, ensuring architectural cohesion across the full system.

Drive architectural decisions for real-time industrial C&P systems, balancing performance, scalability, modularity, and serviceability from initial requirements through to release and lifecycle retirement.

Translate customer needs, market trends, and evolving grid requirements into clear product priorities. Partnering with engineering, system architecture, research and development, and commercial teams to keep product direction aligned and well-evidenced.

Oversee product-level requirements, gate reviews, design specifications, and test plans to ensure delivered solutions meet technical and business standards and that intellectual property (IP) is identified, captured, and protected throughout.

Build external relationships with GE Vernova businesses, research centres, academic institutions, clients, and suppliers, and represent the business in relevant industry working groups and standards discussions.

Mentor and develop talent within the C&P and product management community, contributing to a culture of technical rigour and continuous learning.

What You Will Bring

You are a technically grounded product leader who can move between detailed systems thinking and strategic portfolio decisions and bring others with you.

Required

  • Significant experience in product management, systems engineering, or technical leadership within power transmission, grid stability, or closely related energy applications
  • Strong understanding of control and protection systems, including embedded software-led product development and requirements management
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, product, and commercial teams
  • A structured approach to roadmap planning, prioritisation, and lifecycle management, with strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

Experience with modelling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or PSCAD

Familiarity with product collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence

Education

A formal education and subsequent Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Engineering, or a related discipline is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
