Location: Stafford
Job Description Summary
Join our Power Transmission commercial team in the UK as a Senior Key Account Manager. You will lead relationships with the UK's major engineering and construction contractors and win new business for our high and medium voltage equipment portfolio (Gas Insulated Switchgears, Air Insulated Switchgears, Power transformers, Power Quality Products and associated Services). The role is based in Stafford, with hybrid working and flexibility for candidates elsewhere in England.
The UK is one of Europe's most dynamic grid markets, and demand for reliable, lower-carbon transmission infrastructure is growing fast. At GE Vernova, our Power Transmission business supplies the medium and high voltage equipment that strengthens the networks society depends on. In this role you will own some of our most strategic customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow relationships with the UK's large engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors, and engage independent connection providers (ICP) where applicable.
- Identify opportunities early, develop the winning strategy, and lead the sales cycle through to contract, including commercial negotiations of terms and conditions.
- Lead a cross-functional deal team, working with product sales, project management, engineering and service colleagues.
- Build trusted relationships at every level of customer organisations, up to managing director and C-level.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally and support live contracts when the delivery team may require assistance.
- Spot follow-on opportunities for upgrades, maintenance and repair once equipment is in operation.
- Deliver against order intake targets and manage pipeline and forecasts in Salesforce.
Essential Requirements
- Substantial experience in long-term sales, key account management or business development within the energy sector, ideally within transmission and distribution.
- Ability to communicate clearly and build trusted relationships from technical teams to C-level.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience negotiating terms and conditions.
- Sound judgement and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
- Confidence influencing colleagues in a matrix organization.
- A full driving license, valid passport, and willingness to travel within the UK and Ireland
- Nice-to-have qualifications
- Knowledge of high voltage equipment such as electrical switchgears, power transformers or power quality products.
- Experience working with large EPC contractors, UK network operators or high voltage equipment manufacturers.
- Familiarity with NEC3 or NEC4 contract terms.
- Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM tool.
- A degree in engineering or business, or relevant certifications, but what we value most are your experience and achievements.
What we offer
- You will join a fast-growing business at the centre of the energy transition, with a visible, strategic role and real ownership.
- Flexible work arrangements
- Career development through internal moves across teams and functions, supported by your people leader and mentors.
- Annual performance-based bonus plan and a company car or car allowance in line with company policy.
- A rich and flexible benefits programme (FlexChoice) including a pension, comprehensive private medical cover, 26 days of annual leave, life assurance, income protection and well-being support.
- Relocation Assistance Provided: No
