About Glenholme
Glenholme is a specialist healthcare provider supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs across 22 services nationwide. With over 700 staff and more than two decades of growth, we are a values-led organisation in an active phase of expansion — filling capacity, opening new services, and developing new sites. Growing the right services, in the right places, for the people who need them is central to our mission. Glenholme is backed by STAR Capital (since Jun-26), with a strong focus on growth, operational improvement and value creation.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Manager to join our finance team on a 3–9 month fixed-term contract.
The primary focus of the role is to take ownership of the day-to-day AP and AR functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, reconciliations are completed and outstanding balances are actively managed.
The successful candidate will work closely with our existing finance team to understand and document current processes, take over responsibility for these activities and subsequently provide a structured handover and training to our incoming permanent AP and AR staff.
Alongside these core responsibilities, the role will provide administrative support to our ongoing fee uplift programme, helping to maintain accurate records, track correspondence and follow up outstanding requests with local authorities and NHS commissioners.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can work independently, quickly get up to speed and take ownership of the ledgers with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Take ownership of the purchase ledger, including supplier invoice processing, coding, approvals, credit notes and preparation of payment runs.
- Manage supplier accounts, including statement reconciliations, resolving queries and reviewing aged creditors to ensure balances are accurate and payments are made on time.
- Support month-end reconciliations, maintain accurate supplier records and resolve outstanding or historic ledger issues.
- Accounts Receivable
- Manage the sales ledger, including customer invoicing, credit notes, cash allocation and maintaining accurate billing and funding records.
- Oversee aged debtors, credit control and customer account reconciliations, investigating overdue balances, unallocated receipts and discrepancies.
- Liaise with local authorities, NHS commissioners and other funders to resolve billing queries and recover outstanding payments.
- Bank reconciliations and financial controls
- Complete regular bank reconciliations, investigate outstanding items and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Support month-end close activities relating to AP, AR and cash, ensuring appropriate financial controls and supporting documentation are maintained.
- Process documentation and handover
- Work with the existing finance team to understand, document and take ownership of all AP and AR processes, including transaction processing, reconciliations, reporting and financial controls.
- Prepare clear process documentation, checklists and handover notes, identifying opportunities to improve existing processes where appropriate.
- Train and hand over responsibilities to the incoming permanent AP and AR team members, ensuring continuity of operations and a smooth transition.
- Fee uplift administration and tracking
- Support the annual fee uplift exercise by maintaining the central tracker, reviewing historic correspondence and documenting requests, responses, agreed increases and outstanding actions.
- Prepare follow-up correspondence to local authorities and NHS commissioners, tracking progress and escalating unresolved requests.
- Maintain accurate supporting records, including agreed rates, effective dates, backdated amounts and reasons for rejected or reduced requests, providing regular updates to the Finance team.
What We’re Looking For
- Significant hands-on experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ideally having previously worked as an AP/AR Manager, Ledger Manager or Senior Finance Officer.
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash allocation, bank reconciliations and month-end procedures.
- Experience in proactively chasing and recovering debt and resolving complex queries.
- Proven ability to take ownership of financial processes and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience documenting finance processes, preparing procedures and training or handing over responsibilities to other team members.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Confident communicating with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- A practical, proactive approach with the willingness to get involved in day-to-day transaction processing.
- Familiarity with Sage 200
