The Mortgage Loan Engineering Team within Global Banking & Markets (GBM Private) is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting robust, scalable applications for mortgage structured products on behalf of our businesses and clients. Our core focus is building highly scalable systems to drive and support the expansion of the lending business within the Capital Solutions Group (CSG) and GBM Private. This dual-functional role offers a unique opportunity to act as the GS India Finance Limited (GIFL) IT Entity Lead and technical driver.
You will collaborate directly with GBM Private businesses, strats, and front-to-back engineering teams in GBM, utilizing a cutting-edge technology stack while navigating the complex regulatory, operational, and financial landscape of the Indian market. Role Overview You will oversee the design, development, and governance of strategic reporting platforms, data pipelines, and internal regulatory applications. Concurrently, you will serve as the primary IT administrative and regulatory contact for the GIFL entity.
Your contributions will directly ensure structural and technical compliance with key regulatory bodies—such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)—while modernizing financial operations, leading legacy systems migration, integrating enterprise data lakes, and leveraging state-of-the-art AI-assisted development tools. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & Data Engineering Design, optimize, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines to ingest complex financial products (including corporate and mortgage loans, commercial paper, and debt instruments) from distributed enterprise data repositories and data lakes.
Implement automated reporting frameworks for core business metrics, including Asset Classification (days-past-due calculations), Statements of Account (historical and projected cash flows), and Secured Borrowing Monitoring (portfolio concentration risk). Transition legacy operations into platform-independent, single-click executable workflows to systematically retire redundant applications and manual processes. Establish secure, automated connectivity with enterprise data lakes utilizing cloud-native events and secure file transfer mechanisms. 2.
Software Modernization & AI-Driven Development Modernize legacy core business applications by leading enterprise framework migrations (such as upgrading legacy Java and Spring Boot applications). Leverage cutting-edge AI software engineering assistants and generative AI coding tools to accelerate codebase refactoring, dependency upgrades, and code quality. Drive security migrations from legacy internal authentication systems to robust, industry-standard single-sign-on (SSO) and OAuth protocols.
Architect complex regulatory compliance workflow portals and tracking databases using enterprise low-code platforms. 3. IT Governance, Regulatory Compliance, & Audits Serve as the primary IT contact for local regulatory inquiries, managing timely compliance responses and gap analyses against updated IT outsourcing guidelines and directives. Drive technical preparation and map deliverables for internal and external IT audits, deploying real-time data reconciliation engines to secure clean, issue-free audit outcomes.
Prepare and present IT operational, cybersecurity, and compliance metrics to the IT Strategy Board of Directors on a quarterly cycle. Manage recurring access certifications, capacity-utilization audits, and tracking of committed technical remediation deliverables. 4. Production Support & Optimization Enhance API retrieval speeds through multithreading, multiprocessing, and database query optimization. Maintain robust, automated synchronization between core internal databases and external asset management or vendor systems.
Architect scalable, high-performance data schemas supporting both single-tenant and multi-tenant structures. Required Skills & Qualifications Min. 8 years of working experience and deep proficiency in Java or Python, with hands-on experience executing complex framework migrations. Familiarity with modern web technologies (such as HTML5, JavaScript, React/Redux, and JSON). Hands-on experience driving Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) efficiency using modern generative AI-assisted programming tools.
Strong track record working with cloud ecosystem services, automated data-ingestion pipelines, secure file transfer protocols, and modern data lakehouse architectures. Experience building enterprise compliance portals and workflows using professional low-code development platforms. Expertise in multithreaded API optimization, relational and NoSQL databases, proprietary querying and modeling environments, and modern authentication frameworks.
Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and standard build automation and scripting tools. Familiarity with local financial market regulations, specifically IT outsourcing standards, insider trading prevention, and structured regulatory digital tracking requirement is highly desirable. Exceptional communication and relationship-management skills with a proven track record of collaborating with executive board members, external regulators, internal control groups, and front-office desks.
