What You Will Do

Guidehouse is seeking an experienced Bank Supervision & Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a major business transformation initiative.

The SME will bring deep knowledge of bank supervision, examination practices, and the federal banking regulatory environment to a multidisciplinary team focused on assessing and improving supervisory business processes and enabling technologies.

This individual will work alongside business process, technology, data, and change management professionals to help the team understand how supervisory activities are performed today, identify regulatory and operational considerations that must be preserved in a future-state environment, and help translate supervisory needs into practical business and technology requirements.

The ideal candidate has firsthand experience as a federal bank examiner, regulator, or senior banking professional who has worked extensively with prudential regulators and understands the end-to-end examination and supervision lifecycle.

Serve as a bank supervision and regulatory SME to the transformation team, providing practical insight into the federal bank examination and supervisory environment.

Advise the team on the end-to-end supervisory lifecycle, including examination planning and scoping, examination preparation, fieldwork/execution, findings and issue development, review and approval, reporting, remediation, follow-up, validation, and ongoing supervision.

Participate in structured interviews and working sessions with OCC examiners, supervisors, and other stakeholders to understand current supervisory practices.

Help distinguish between regulatory or policy requirements, supervisory judgment, established procedures, and legacy practices when evaluating current-state processes.

Assist business process specialists in understanding examiner workflows, decision points, handoffs, dependencies, pain points, duplicative activities, and areas reliant on institutional knowledge or manual workarounds.

Provide subject matter expertise regarding differences in supervisory approaches across community banks, midsize institutions, and large or complex banking organizations, as applicable.

Help assess how supervisory specialists, including safety and soundness, compliance, technology/cybersecurity, operational risk, and third-party risk personnel, interact with the broader examination process.

Review proposed future-state processes and requirements to identify potential regulatory, supervisory, operational, or examiner-judgment implications.

Help translate regulatory and supervisory concepts into clear requirements that can be understood by business analysts, process designers, technologists, data specialists, and ServiceNow/platform teams.

Support development and review of process maps, business requirements, operating-model concepts, workflow designs, and transformation recommendations.

Participate in working sessions with senior team and client leadership and clearly communicate complex supervisory concepts to both regulatory and non-regulatory audiences.

  • Experience working for or directly with a federal banking regulator, such as the OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, or another prudential supervisory organization.
  • Working knowledge of safety-and-soundness supervision, risk-based examinations, supervisory findings/issues, examination reporting, and remediation/follow-up activities.
