Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist supports the integrity of the organization's financial records by accurately processing transactions, maintaining account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role helps ensure timely and reliable financial reporting by providing operational accounting support, resolving discrepancies, and partnering with community and corporate teams to maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and post daily charge batches, recurring charges, adjustments, and other resident accounting transactions.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations for assigned community bank accounts and resolve reconciling items timely.
• Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
• Maintain the fixed asset subledger and related schedules.
• Record capital asset additions, disposal, transfers, depreciation and amortization.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal control requirements.
• Monitor accounting activities and escalate issues, exceptions, and potential process breakdowns that may impact financial accuracy, cash flow, resident accounts, or reporting deadlines.
• Demonstrate discretion and professionalism when handling confidential financial records, business information, and resident data.
