The role is suited to an experienced engineer with strong expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code, who can operate effectively in complex, enterprise-scale environments and build secure, resilient, and highly scalable platforms.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will collaborate with engineering teams, architects, security specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative cloud-native solutions supporting critical business services. The role will contribute to platform strategy, drive automation initiatives, enhance operational excellence, and help shape the future of cloud and infrastructure services.
Responsibilities
Contribute to cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering initiatives across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kubernetes to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure capabilities.
Work within one or more engineering pods to define technical requirements, conduct design reviews, and provide hands-on engineering support throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Design, build, configure, and operate AWS-based solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), primarily Terraform, to improve consistency, reliability, and deployment efficiency.
Develop and enhance Kubernetes platform capabilities to support increasing demand while improving resilience, scalability, performance, operational efficiency, and developer experience.
Implement and maintain cloud cost management practices, including resource tagging, allocation, rightsizing, capacity planning, usage monitoring, and cost optimisation strategies.
Support the evaluation and adoption of open-source technologies and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions, ensuring alignment with security, privacy, licensing, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Apply robust release management and production-readiness processes, including automation, deployment governance, monitoring, alerting, logging, rollback procedures, and incident preparedness.
Collaborate with Cloud Services, Application DevOps, Architecture, Security, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams to achieve platform standards, remediation activities, and delivery objectives.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform stability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
Extensive hands-on experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps within large-scale enterprise environments.
Proven ability to design, build, deploy, monitor, and support production platforms and cloud infrastructure.
Strong practical knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes, including the delivery of highly available, secure, resilient, and scalable solutions.
Expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
Experience with modern DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, version control, and controlled production deployments.
Working knowledge of Docker, Helm, service mesh technologies, Python, cloud-native deployment tools, monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms.
Experience supporting cloud migrations and addressing governance, compliance, security, resilience, capacity management, and operational readiness challenges.
Sound understanding of cloud financial management, resource governance, and cost optimisation, with the ability to identify and implement measurable improvements.
Strong knowledge of security best practices, architecture governance, compliance requirements, risk management, and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience working within Agile, Scrum, and DevOps delivery frameworks.
Experience evaluating, integrating, or operating multi-vendor Large Language Model (LLM) workloads within AWS and Kubernetes environments is desirable.
Previous experience in a highly regulated industry, particularly financial services or banking, is desirable.
Familiarity with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence is advantageous.
Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications are advantageous.
