You’ll partner with Product Directors across Traditional and Structured Trade to identify where technologies such as generative AI, agentic AI, digital currencies and digital assets can improve trade finance. Success means taking opportunities from concept to implementation and scale while improving client experience, processing efficiency, transparency, connectivity and the use of liquidity. You’ll also ensure innovation initiatives operate within HSBC’s risk and control framework, so solutions are secure, scalable and commercially viable.
In this role you’ll
Set the innovation strategy and portfolio priorities across Global Trade Products, including roadmaps, outcomes and a clear path from concept to scale
Shape opportunities to digitise Documentary Trade, simplifying processes and reducing manual intervention to improve speed, transparency and client experience
Develop and commercialise new trade propositions, partnering across Product, Sales, Client Management, Operations and Technology
Assess use cases for generative AI, agentic AI, digital currencies, emerging payments, digital assets and other relevant technologies in trade finance
Engage clients to understand evolving trade requirements and pain points and translate them into enhancements and new propositions aligned to Traditional Trade strategy
Build engagement with fintechs, technology platforms and ecosystem participants including solutions leveraging APIs and distributed ledger technology
Influence industry initiatives and standards to improve interoperability and connectivity across the trade ecosystem
Govern innovation initiatives within HSBC’s risk and control framework, partnering with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology and Operations to ensure solutions are practical, secure and scalable
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
Bring proven trade-finance experience with a strong understanding of Documentary Trade products and processes
Demonstrate product management, product development, commercialisation and/or implementation experience in transaction banking, trade finance or a similar regulated environment
Apply strong knowledge of trade-finance process digitisation and where technology can improve client and operational outcomes
Show familiarity with digital platforms, APIs, fintech solutions and emerging technologies relevant to trade including distributed ledger technology
Evidence understanding of digital currencies and emerging payment and settlement technologies and their potential application to global trade
Translate technology potential and client requirements into practical, commercially viable propositions with clear benefits
Deliver complex cross-functional programmes from concept and design through pilot, implementation and business-as-usual adoption
Operate confidently within product governance and regulated risk and control environments including third-party and implementation governance
Develop business cases and define measurable success criteria and KPIs to track benefits realisation
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
