About the role
In this senior independent oversight role, you’ll provide constructive challenge and forward-looking advice across financial and non-financial risks affecting wealth-management activities. You’ll work closely with business leaders, regional and global risk colleagues, control functions and senior governance forums to support responsible growth, strong customer outcomes and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
This is a high-impact role for an experienced leader who can combine strong technical risk expertise with commercial judgement, executive influence and a deep understanding of the wealth-management environment.
What you’ll do
- Risk oversight and governance
- Provide independent risk advice and challenge to senior stakeholders and relevant governance forums.
- Maintain a clear, consolidated view of key and emerging risks affecting wealth-management activities in Singapore.
- Monitor risk indicators, issues, remediation plans and the effectiveness of controls.
- Review the impact of regulatory, market, economic and business developments on the risk profile.
- Support risk assessments, stress testing, scenario analysis, reporting and escalation.
- Identify vulnerabilities and work with stakeholders to develop practical mitigation plans.
- Promote consistent application of the organisation’s risk standards while considering relevant local requirements.
- Products, customers and growth
- Provide risk oversight across investment products, wealth services and customer distribution channels.
- Contribute to reviews of new and changing products, including suitability, customer outcomes, product value, third-party arrangements and operational readiness.
- Partner with business teams to ensure risks are understood, appropriately managed and reflected in business decisions.
- Support sustainable growth while maintaining high standards of conduct, customer protection and regulatory compliance.
- Change and transformation
- Provide risk oversight for strategic initiatives, technology change and improvements to the control environment.
- Assess the potential impact of change across products, processes, systems, people and third parties.
- Help ensure that risk-management enhancements are coordinated, sustainable and embedded in day-to-day activity.
- Encourage the use of data and forward-looking analysis to improve risk identification and decision-making.
- Leadership and stakeholder management
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders, specialist risk and control teams, Internal Audit and relevant external stakeholders.
- Act as a senior point of contact for wealth-related risk matters in Singapore.
- Explain complex risk issues clearly to different audiences, including executive committees and senior management.
- Reinforce clear ownership of risk within the business and promote a positive risk and compliance culture.
- Lead, coach and develop risk professionals while contributing to a collaborative regional and global risk community.
- Work effectively with colleagues across countries, cultures and professional disciplines.
What we’re looking for
Experience and qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in finance, business, accounting, law or a related discipline.
- Significant senior experience in risk management within private banking, wealth management, asset management or another regulated financial-services environment.
- Experience across multiple risk disciplines, such as financial, conduct, operational, regulatory or investment risk.
- Strong understanding of investment products, wealth services, product governance and distribution practices.
- Experience operating in a regulated environment and influencing decisions within a complex, international organisation.
- Experience working effectively with colleagues across different countries and cultures.
- Excellent written and spoken business English.
- Technical and leadership capabilities
- Strong understanding of risk governance, risk frameworks, risk appetite and control effectiveness.
- Experience with risk assessment, reporting, stress testing, scenario analysis and issue remediation.
- Ability to interpret complex information, identify the most important issues and turn analysis into clear recommendations.
- Confidence advising and constructively challenging senior executives.
- Strong influencing and relationship-management skills, including the ability to work across business and control functions.
- Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of customer, market and regulatory considerations.
- Experience leading teams, transformation programmes or complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Collaborative, inclusive and accountable leadership style.
- Commitment to fair customer outcomes, responsible business and high professional standards.
What we offer
You’ll join a collaborative risk community with the opportunity to shape the wealth-risk agenda in Singapore and influence important business decisions. The role offers broad exposure to wealth management, senior stakeholders and regional and global risk priorities.
