We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Tax

Purpose of the role

The role supports the regional Transfer Pricing team in managing transfer pricing compliance, advisory, risk and governance activities across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye (MENAT). The role holder will work with Tax, Finance, Operations and business stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions to support consistent application of the HSBC transfer pricing framework and relevant local requirements. This is a hands-on role requiring sound technical judgement, strong execution discipline and the ability to convert complex transfer pricing matters into clear, practical outputs for stakeholders.

In this role, you will

Support the preparation and review of local transfer pricing documentation, transfer pricing returns and related reporting requirements across relevant Asia-Pacific (in particular Hong Kong) and MENAT jurisdictions, in line with local legislation, the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and HSBC policy.

Coordinate data collection and validation with Finance, Operations, business teams and external advisers; maintain clear supporting files, audit trails and delivery trackers.

Prepare high-quality technical analyses, briefing notes and written responses to transfer pricing queries, tax authority enquiries and audit requests.

Support the review of new products, transactions, restructurings and operating model changes from a transfer pricing perspective, identifying key facts, risks and required actions.

Assist with the identification, documentation and periodic review of material intra-group transactions, including services, cost allocations, revenue-sharing arrangements, financing and other intercompany dealings.

Support transfer pricing risk and control assessments, second-line assurance reviews, issue management and implementation of proportionate risk-mitigation actions.

Monitor relevant legislative, regulatory and OECD developments; assess potential implications and communicate clear, timely updates to regional stakeholders.

Assist with transfer pricing dispute prevention and resolution, including audit support, uncertain tax position analysis and coordination with local tax teams and advisers.

Contribute to process improvement, standardisation and appropriate use of technology and data analytics to strengthen the efficiency and quality of transfer pricing delivery.

To be successful you will

Professionally qualified or holding a relevant postgraduate qualification in tax, accounting, finance, economics or law. Chartered Accountant, CPA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

Typically 7-10 years of relevant experience in transfer pricing, gained in a professional services firm, multinational organisation or financial services environment.

Demonstrable experience in transfer pricing documentation, functional analysis, intercompany transaction review and responding to transfer pricing enquiries or audits.

Sound understanding of the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and practical application of the arm’s length principle. Exposure to Asia-Pacific and/or MENAT transfer pricing regimes is advantageous.

Good general understanding of corporate tax and tax accounting concepts; experience of operational taxes is beneficial but not essential.

Experience of working within a regulated, matrixed organisation and familiarity with banking operating models, governance, risk and control frameworks would be advantageous.
