IMS Technology/Software

Test Driver (QA)

Remote Full-time

Company Overview

IMS is a world-leading connected insurance and telematics provider, delivering services, analytics, and technology to insurers, governments, and enterprises. We are a globally distributed team united by a shared mission: using data as a force for good to make driving Safer. Smarter. Greener.

We believe the best solutions come from the intersection of different ideas. At IMS, we take an inclusive approach to how we build, deliver and commercialise our technology. If you're passionate about technology that has a real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable, organized, and self-motivated Drive Tester to join our QA team. About 80% of the role is drive testing: running test cases that need real-world driving scenarios, to make sure our mobile products work in the conditions our users actually face.

The other 20% is supporting the wider QA team with junior Product QA tasks, such as app testing, bug reporting, and log and network analysis. This makes the role a strong starting point for someone who wants to grow a career in software quality assurance.

You'll get test cases, builds, and instructions from our mobile and other IMS teams. Most of your day will be spent working on your own, so strong time management matters. You'll also work closely with engineers and teammates to share results and flag issues.

What You'll Do

Drive Testing (~80%)

  • Run drive test cases on multiple mobile devices (iOS and Android) according to provided test plans and instructions.
  • Install and manage test builds (e.g. via TestFlight) and keep several test phones organized, charged, and ready.
  • Follow test procedures carefully so results are accurate and repeatable.
  • Run data pipelines and review dashboards after testing to confirm the data is complete and valid.
  • Record test results, notes, and observations accurately, including manual data entry where needed.
  • Communicate quickly and clearly when tests can't be completed, results look unexpected, or plans need to change.

Junior QA Support (~20%)

  • Do functional, regression, and exploratory testing on mobile app builds outside of drive scenarios.
  • Log, reproduce, and verify bugs in JIRA, with clear steps, screenshots, and logs, and work with developers to confirm fixes.
  • Check crash reports and app performance in Firebase and New Relic after test runs and releases.
  • Inspect and capture network traffic with Proxyman to help debug issues found during testing.
  • Help run and maintain basic API tests in Bruno.
  • Use AI tools to help analyze logs and narrow down root causes.
  • Help write and maintain test cases and QA documentation.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to safe driving.
  • Confidence using smartphones, and comfort with both iOS and Android.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Good time management and the ability to work on your own with little supervision.
  • Clear, proactive communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new tools and processes.
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience with Excel or other spreadsheet tools.
  • Previous experience recording or managing data in a work setting.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Azure DevOps, AWS Console, or TestFlight.
  • Exposure to Firebase, New Relic, Proxyman, or Bruno (or similar tools). Training will be provided.
  • Previous QA, testing, or field-based work experience.
  • Interest in growing a career in QA or software testing.
  • Comfort using AI tools to support everyday work.
