Bengaluru (On-site) | Full-time
Dognosis builds automated canine olfaction testing systems. You will own the electronic hardware stack and firmware of our automation equipment, demanding high reliability, precision, and robust design.
About Dognosis
Dognosis digitizes canine cognition to detect 30+ human cancers from a single breath sample, with accuracy exceeding standard-of-care diagnostics and at a cost low enough to scale across entire populations. We are backed by top-tier VCs across India, the US, Israel, and Europe (including Accel India), have published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and collaborate with UCL, Narayana Health, and Medical Detection Dogs. We are pre-revenue, well-funded, and entering prospective clinical validation.
About the Role
We are looking for an Embedded Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, from circuit design and PCB development to board bring-up, testing, debugging, and hardware-software integration. This is a hands-on, on-site role in Bangalore. You will work closely with firmware and systems engineers to develop and bring up real-world electronic systems.
What You Will Do
- Design, test, and develop custom PCBs for motion control, power distribution, and sensor interfacing.
- Work on analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics systems.
- Develop motion control systems and interface with microcontrollers, sensors, limit switches, motors, and motor drivers.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium, KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle, or equivalent tools.
- Select components and prepare BOMs, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to develop new products and debug system-level issues.
- Perform electronic integrations, testing, and hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues systematically and take designs from prototype to a working system.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in analog and digital electronics, circuit theory, power supplies, and electronic components.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools.
- Good understanding of PCB design principles, component selection, grounding, routing, and signal integrity.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, sensors, ADCs/DACs, and interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, or Ethernet.
- Ability to read and understand circuit schematics, datasheets, and application notes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A hands-on approach to building, testing, debugging, and improving hardware.
Must Have
- Experience: 3+ years in embedded electronics development and integration.
- Skills: Schematic capture, PCB layout, mixed-signal/analog design, power electronics, power management, test and measurement (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer).
- EDA tools: KiCad, Altium, or similar ECAD software.
- Embedded systems: Microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Arduino), Raspberry Pi, motor controllers and drivers.
- Protocols and interfaces: CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, EtherCAT.
- Tools and workflow: Git, prototyping and rework.
- Languages: C/C++, and Python for hardware testing scripts.
- Nice to Have
- High-speed layout, signal integrity, EMC/EMI compliance design, and sensor fusion electronics.
- DFM/DFA design principles.
- Proficiency in Rust.
- Sensor data acquisition over wireless protocols, and signal processing.
- Experience with wearable IoT devices.
