Requirements

About this role

As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Armory, you will design the electronics at the heart of our defense-tech products. From schematic to production-ready hardware, you will own complex, high-speed, mixed-signal designs that have to perform flawlessly in the field. You will take hard electronics problems from first principles to working boards and make them manufacturable, reliable, and ready for the harshest conditions.

Schematic Design: Architect and capture schematics for complex electronic systems, from power to high-speed digital to mixed-signal.

PCB Layout: Own multilayer, high-density PCB layout with a deep focus on signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.

High-Speed & Complex Boards: Design high-speed and complex multilayer boards, managing signal integrity, controlled impedance, and EMI from the start.

Mixed-Signal & Data Converters: Design mixed-signal circuits and integrate ADCs/DACs and data converters for high-fidelity signal paths.

DSP Integration: Integrate DSPs and signal-processing pipelines into hardware for real-time performance.

Wireless & IoT: Design connected, IoT-enabled hardware with wireless and RF connectivity (BLE, Wi-Fi, and similar).

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Apply ANC and related signal-processing techniques where product requirements demand it.

Bring-up, Test & Debug: Bring up prototypes, debug at the bench with lab instruments, and validate designs against spec.

Design for Manufacturing: Work with manufacturing and supply teams to take boards through assembly, testing, and volume production.

Must haves

6+ years of experience in electronics/hardware design, with a track record of boards that shipped.

Strong proficiency in schematic design and multilayer PCB layout (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent).

Deep expertise in high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and controlled impedance.

Solid mixed-signal design skills, including ADCs/DACs and data converters.

Experience integrating DSPs and signal-processing pipelines into hardware.

Experience with IoT/wireless connectivity and RF design.

Hands-on bring-up and debugging skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab equipment.

A portfolio or project history of complex electronics taken from concept to working hardware.

Bonus points for

  • Experience designing electronics for defense, aerospace, or other rugged/high-reliability environments.
  • Experience with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) or advanced audio/signal-processing systems.
  • Embedded firmware experience to complement hardware bring-up.
  • RF and antenna design expertise.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance and how to design for it from the start.

  • A hands-on approach to design, bring-up, and debugging.
  • A mindset geared towards rapid execution and innovation.
  • Getting s**t done.
  • How will we set you up for success in this role?
  • A live project: You will jump straight into a live product as soon as you join. No dummy or test projects.

Tips

Irrespective of you applying at Armory or not, some of the following tips will definitely help you in your job search.

How to get hired

Targeted Applications: Ensure your application is tailored specifically for the job you’re applying for by understanding its requirements and showcasing relevant experiences and skills. Apply for THIS job, not some job.

Quality Over Quantity: Instead of applying to 100 jobs casually, it’s far better to apply to 4 seriously.

Stand out: Most people don’t put any efforts in applying to jobs, their applications look exactly the same. It’s easy to stand out from them just by putting a little effort and showcasing your relevant experience and interest for the said job.

How to NOT get hired

If your cover letter starts with “Honestly, I possess all the skills and experience that you’re looking for”, then you are not going to make it. In fact, we wrote a long thread on all the ways you will NOT get hired. https://x.com/singhamardeep/status/1459114743398998018?s=46 We highly recommend you to read it.

We wish you the best in your job search!
