Sydney, Australia In person Full-time

Help shape how model risk, scenario analysis and financial resilience are governed across a complex financial services organisation.

We’re looking for an experienced risk professional to lead the oversight and continued evolution of our Model Risk and Scenario Analysis frameworks, while providing specialist Line 2 advice and challenge across financial risk.

This is a senior manager opportunity with broad exposure across the organisation, working with Risk, Finance, Treasury, Technology, Data & AI and senior stakeholders to strengthen risk governance and support sound, risk-informed decision-making.

The opportunity

In this role, you will

  • Lead and maintain the Model Risk Management Framework, providing oversight and challenge across the model lifecycle, including AI-enabled, vendor and third-party models.
  • Oversee model governance, risk assessment, monitoring and independent validation of material models.
  • Coordinate the Models Committee, supporting effective governance and decision-making around model risk and validation outcomes.
  • Lead the organisation’s scenario analysis framework, including the development and assessment of severe-but-plausible scenarios.
  • Provide specialist Line 2 advice and challenge across financial risk, including ORFR target modelling, capital and liquidity risk, financial resilience and risk appetite.
  • Contribute to executive and Board-level risk reporting and governance.
  • Partner across Risk Management, Finance, Treasury, Technology, Data & AI and the broader business to embed strong risk practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement across risk governance, data, reporting and assurance practices.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced risk professional who can combine strong technical capability with practical judgement and senior stakeholder influence. Ideally, you will bring:

7+ years’ experience across model risk, financial risk, assurance, governance or related risk disciplines within complex financial services.

Strong knowledge of model risk governance, including model inventories, materiality, lifecycle controls, monitoring and independent validation.

Experience across scenario analysis, stress testing, capital or liquidity risk, financial resilience and/or ORFR, ideally within Australian financial services or superannuation.

Working knowledge of relevant APRA prudential requirements, including SPS 114, CPS 190 and CPS 230.

Strong Line 2 review and challenge capability, with the judgement to turn complex risk issues into practical recommendations.

Strong analytical capability and confidence working with both quantitative and qualitative information.

Excellent communication and influencing skills, including experience engaging senior leaders and preparing executive, committee or Board-level materials.

A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Risk, Actuarial Studies, Law or a related discipline.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of highly relevant and evolving areas of risk, particularly model governance, AI-enabled models, scenario analysis and financial resilience, with the ability to influence frameworks and practices across the organisation.

You’ll operate at the intersection of technical risk expertise, governance and strategic decision-making, helping strengthen how risk is understood and managed while supporting better outcomes for clients and members.
