The opportunity

Intuit is seeking a Principal Presentation & Visual Communications Designer to help leaders turn complex ideas into clear, compelling, and exceptionally crafted visual stories.

Executive presentations are at the heart of this role. Working primarily in Keynote and Google Slides, you will partner directly with directors, vice presidents, and executive leaders to shape how they communicate strategy, business performance, product direction, and organizational priorities to internal and external audiences.

You will often begin before there is a clear brief or coherent story—with extensive written content, disconnected imagery, complex data, competing perspectives, or an emerging leadership point of view. Your responsibility is to help uncover the essential message, understand the audience, establish the narrative, and personally design the work through final delivery. This requires more than making information look better: it requires determining what matters, what can be simplified, and how the story should unfold without losing accuracy or meaning.

This is a hands-on, principal-level individual-contributor role for someone who combines exceptional contemporary design craft with editorial judgment, business fluency, and the ability to build trust with senior leaders. You bring substantial experience working inside a large, complex company and understand how to move consequential creative work through a corporate environment.

Your creative practice extends beyond slides. You bring strong original graphic design, sophisticated information design, and hands-on motion capability, with the judgment to use each in service of the story. As a creative peer and leader through influence, you will contribute your own expertise, challenge familiar approaches constructively, and raise the standard of the broader team.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

  • Shape the story with leaders
  • Partner directly with directors, vice presidents, executives, and their communications and business teams to clarify the audience, essential message, and intended outcome of a communication.
  • Lead working sessions that turn dense drafts, incomplete briefs, complex data, and loosely connected ideas into focused narratives. Listen for underlying intent, surface gaps or contradictions, and confirm the direction with stakeholders.
  • Develop story structures, sharpen slide headlines, edit presentation copy, and recommend what to emphasize, combine, remove, or move into supporting material.
  • Translate strategic, technical, financial, and operational complexity into accessible stories while preserving accuracy, necessary nuance, and the leader’s authentic voice.
  • Deliver exceptional presentation and visual design
  • Personally concept, design, and refine executive presentations, keynotes, leadership communications, business reviews, company meetings, and other high-visibility storytelling moments.
  • Apply an exceptional command of typography, composition, hierarchy, imagery, information design, and editorial pacing to create work that is contemporary, clear, and memorable.
  • Create original graphics, diagrams, charts, and visual frameworks that explain ideas and relationships—not simply decorate content.
  • Use purposeful animation and motion to guide attention, reveal information, and strengthen understanding. Extend the visual language into related communications and collaborate with specialists when more complex execution is needed.
  • Build trusted executive partnerships
  • Establish sustained, productive relationships with senior leaders and their teams, adapting to different communication styles while maintaining a clear point of view on the work.
  • Present recommendations and explain creative rationale with confidence. Constructively challenge an approach when it weakens the message, and offer a stronger alternative.
  • Interpret nuanced or conflicting feedback, distinguish the underlying communication need from a proposed execution, and help stakeholders reach clear decisions.
  • Exercise discretion, composure, and sound judgment when working with confidential information, evolving strategies, compressed timelines, and high-stakes revisions.
  • Own the work from ambiguity through delivery
  • Define the creative approach, scope, working process, and key decisions needed to move an assignment forward without waiting for a fully developed brief.
  • Independently manage multiple workstreams, coordinate relevant partners, and communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs early.
  • Maintain rigorous attention to content consistency, data accuracy, accessibility, visual detail, and production quality, confirming substantive changes with the appropriate content owners.
  • Prepare and test work for its intended setting, including executive meetings, live presentations, large-format screens, virtual environments, and distributed viewing. Deliver organized, editable files and clear handoffs.
  • Raise the standard of the team
  • Bring a strong creative point of view and actively introduce relevant references, contemporary design practices, new techniques, and thoughtful experimentation.
  • Give specific, constructive critique that improves both the work and the judgment of collaborators. Seek and incorporate feedback on your own work.
  • Develop reusable frameworks, presentation systems, and working practices that improve quality and efficiency without making every story look or feel the same.
  • Share expertise, methods, source files, and project context so that your contribution strengthens the team’s collective capability. Guide designers, agencies, and production partners through expertise and influence when the work requires it.

How you’ll make an impact

You will help leaders communicate with greater clarity, confidence, and impact. You will make Intuit’s most important ideas easier to understand without sacrificing their substance, and you will demonstrate how exceptional design can strengthen business communication.

Your success will be visible in work that

  • Turns complex or fragmented inputs into focused narratives that audiences can understand, remember, and act upon.
  • Earns leaders’ trust through sound judgment, productive partnership, and consistently excellent execution.
  • Establishes a higher standard for presentation design, information design, and executive visual storytelling.
  • Strengthens the broader team through original creative contributions, shared expertise, and more effective systems and practices.
  • This role is for a designer who can enter at the earliest, least-defined stage of a challenge, determine what needs to be communicated, and then personally make the work exceptional.

What you bring

Relevant experience

10+ years of experience in presentation design, visual communications, graphic design, information design, brand design, editorial design, or a closely related discipline.

Substantial in-house experience at a large, complex, matrixed company, with sustained direct partnership with executives and senior business leaders on consequential communications.

A demonstrated ability to work across business units, communications teams, subject-matter experts, and creative disciplines while navigating layered stakeholders and sensitive information.

A track record of independently leading work from an ambiguous communication problem through narrative development, creative direction, hands-on design, and final delivery. Experience in a large technology or product-led organization is particularly relevant.

Exceptional design and narrative craft

A portfolio demonstrating outstanding contemporary design, original graphic work, and high-stakes executive storytelling, with a clear explanation of your personal contribution.

Mastery of typography, layout, composition, visual hierarchy, image-making, and pacing, supported by a distinctive point of view and thoughtful creative rationale.

Sophisticated information-design skills and strong editorial judgment: you can simplify data, diagrams, processes, and complex arguments while protecting their meaning.

Practical hands-on motion-design capability, including purposeful animation beyond standard slide transitions, and the judgment to know when motion adds value.

Executive partnership and business judgment

The ability to quickly understand unfamiliar business subjects, identify what matters, and connect individual communications to broader company priorities.

Excellent listening, writing, presentation, and facilitation skills, including the ability to help a leader articulate an idea that is not yet fully formed.

Confidence questioning assumptions, proposing a clearer narrative, and discussing creative tradeoffs with senior stakeholders while remaining respectful and collaborative.

The ability to synthesize feedback, validate interpretations, protect confidential information, and maintain momentum as priorities or perspectives evolve.

Principal-level leadership

A self-directed working style: you establish a strong approach, make recommendations, and move the work forward while recognizing when to seek input or escalate a decision.

A demonstrated ability to raise the quality of other people’s work through critique, shared expertise, reusable systems, and example.

A genuine passion for design and active engagement with contemporary visual culture, storytelling, technology, and creative practice.

Accountability for both the quality of the outcome and the effectiveness of the collaboration, including reliable communication, thoughtful handoffs, and openness to feedback.

Tools and working practices

Advanced proficiency in both Keynote and Google Slides, including the ability to build sophisticated, reliable, and editable presentation systems.

Strong command of graphic-design tools such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop, alongside some hands-on experience with After Effects or an equivalent motion-design tool.

Familiarity with PowerPoint is helpful, although it is not the primary presentation platform for this role.

Thoughtful use of emerging technologies and approved AI-enabled tools to support exploration and execution without replacing original thinking, accuracy, confidentiality, or design judgment.

Portfolio expectations

Your portfolio should demonstrate how you think as well as what you make. We are interested in examples that show how you clarified a communication challenge, shaped the narrative, developed the visual approach, and delivered the final work.

Include evidence of both presentation excellence and broader graphic or motion-design capability. Clearly distinguish your own contributions from those of collaborators. Approved, nonconfidential or appropriately anonymized case studies are welcome; public recognition is not a requirement.
