JioStar Telecommunications

Director - Creative Technology

Bengaluru, India In person Full-time

Location: Bengaluru- We Work

Role Summary

  • The Creative Technologist, Gen-AI TD will be a key technical craft leader within the JioStar AI
  • Media Studio (JAMS), responsible for building and operationalizing GenAI-led production
  • workflows that bridge AI generation, traditional VFX, compositing, color science, DI, and
  • post-production pipelines.
  • This role sits at the intersection of creative technology and production execution. The ideal
  • candidate brings deep hands-on fluency in ComfyUI and multimodal GenAI workflows, along
  • with strong understanding of color pipelines, compositing principles, post-production workflows,
  • and the practical realities of delivering premium video content. You will help define how GenAI
  • outputs move from experimentation into production-grade pipelines that creative, VFX, DI, and
  • post teams can trust, refine, and scale.

Key Responsibilities

ComfyUI and GenAI Workflow Development

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced ComfyUI workflows for image and video

generation, control, refinement, consistency, and production handoff.

  • Develop node-based GenAI pipelines that support controllability, repeatability,

versioning, and creative direction across multiple content formats.

  • Integrate techniques such as ControlNet, IP adapters, LoRAs, reference conditioning,

motion transfer, upscaling, inpainting, and other emerging GenAI methods into usable

production workflows.

  • Continuously evaluate new GenAI tools, models, and workflow patterns, and adapt

them for JAMS production needs.

Color Science, DI, and Post-Production Pipeline Integration

  • Define and maintain color-managed GenAI workflows using ACES, OCIO,

LUT/CDL-based pipelines, and show-specific color transforms.

  • Ensure AI-generated outputs preserve color consistency across ComfyUI, compositing,

editorial, grading, real-time, and delivery environments.

  • Work with post and DI teams on conform, reference exports, CDL/show LUT handling,

VFX pulls, EXR workflows, SDR/HDR versioning, and final delivery readiness.

  • Troubleshoot issues around scene-linear workflows, bit depth, alpha/premultiplication,

matte/depth passes, gamut mapping, grain, denoise, compression artifacts, and

shot-to-shot continuity.

  • Partner with colorists, editors, compositors, VFX artists, and pipeline teams to establish

reliable review, QC, and handoff practices for AI-generated visual material.

Compositing and VFX Bridge

  • Apply a strong understanding of compositing principles to make GenAI outputs more

usable, controllable, and production-ready.

  • Build workflow bridges between GenAI tools and traditional VFX/compositing pipelines

such as Nuke, After Effects, Fusion, or equivalent tools.

  • Help teams combine AI-generated elements with live action, CG, matte painting,

clean-up, roto, matchmove, and finishing workflows.

  • Support shot-level problem solving where GenAI outputs need to be layered, corrected,

stabilized, matched, or refined for final use.

3D and Real-Time Workflow Collaboration

  • Collaborate with teams using 3D and real-time tools such as Blender, Unreal Engine,

Maya, Houdini, or equivalent platforms.

  • Explore workflows that combine 3D scene control, camera movement, lighting

references, depth passes, masks, renders, and GenAI generation.

  • Help define how 3D inputs and outputs can improve consistency, directability, and

production value in AI-native content creation.

  • Support color-managed real-time review workflows, including OCIO-aware viewport

and render handoffs where applicable.

Cross-Functional Production Enablement

  • Work closely with Creative Technologists, Narrative and Visual Storytelling Leads,

Producers, Editors, VFX/Post teams, Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams.

  • Translate creative production needs into robust technical workflows that can be used by

small teams and PODs.

  • Document workflows, best practices, model/tool limitations, and repeatable production

playbooks for the JAMS team.

  • Partner with Creative Technologists and Engineering teams on AI generation guardrails,

validation prompts, and review workflows that improve output consistency, safety, and

production usability.

  • Serve as an independent problem-solver and force multiplier across multiple active

AI-native productions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in the media, entertainment, VFX, animation,

post-production, gaming, or adjacent creative technology industries.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in ComfyUI, especially for image/video generation

workflows, control, refinement, and production-oriented automation.

  • Deep understanding of color science, color pipelines, post-production workflows, and

finishing requirements.

  • Strong working knowledge of ACES, OCIO, LUTs, CDLs, IDTs/ODTs, display transforms,

Rec.709, P3, HDR/SDR workflows, and DI/post-production handoff.

  • Experience with EXR-based VFX workflows, scene-linear compositing,

alpha/matte/depth passes, color-managed review, and technical QC for finishing.

  • Strong practical understanding of compositing principles and VFX production

workflows.

  • Ability to bridge GenAI experimentation with traditional production-grade VFX and

post pipelines.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Nuke, After Effects, Fusion, DaVinci Resolve, Baselight, or

similar compositing/post-production tools.

  • Working knowledge of 3D or real-time tools such as Blender, Unreal Engine, Maya,

Houdini, or equivalent platforms is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of GenAI visual workflows, including model behavior, prompting,

conditioning, reference control, consistency, artifact management, and output

evaluation.

  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work across creative, technical, and

production teams.

  • High ownership, learning agility, and comfort operating in a fast-evolving AI-native

production environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in animation, VFX, film production, computer graphics,

design, engineering, or a related field.

  • Prior experience in VFX, animation, gaming, virtual production, post-production, DI, or

AI-led content creation.

  • Experience building reusable production workflows, templates, toolkits, or technical

playbooks for creative teams.

  • Exposure to GenAI video tools, multimodal models, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted

filmmaking pipelines.

  • Familiarity with top-tier studio, VFX, animation, virtual production, or post-production

operating models is a significant advantage.
