About the Team

Eggplant is looking for an experienced product modernization and maintenance developer, who can leverage AI to maintain a set of software products.

As a product modernization and maintenance developer, you feel comfortable maintaining code bases which are written in a variety of languages. You know how to automate the process of build and testing software and updating dependencies. AI is your daily co-pilot. You use AI to help you navigate codebases. You frequently delegate tasks to bots (such as Renovate for dependency updates) and agents, while remaining ultimate ownership and accountability for the codebase.

Responsibilities

• With the help of AI, maintain and modernize codebases written in Ruby, Python, PHP, C++, Java and .NET.
• Use AI to write automated tests alongside feature work.
• Review manual and AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Required skills

• Bachelor/Masters in Computer Engineering/Computer Science more than 5 years of experience in relevant field
• Experience directing AI coding assistants on real production codebases, writing scoped specs/plans, critically reviewing AI-generated diffs, and knowing when to trust vs. verify.
• Strong skills using AI (Claude Code or GitHub Copilot) for maintenance work across a wide variety of codebases.
• Experience with Git for source control and Jenkins and GitLab as CI/CD systems.
• Broad experience with different programming languages, including Ruby, Python, PHP, C++, Java and .NET.
• Test driven development: Google Test, PyTest, JUnit with knowledge of test structure up and down the testing pyramid.
• Secure coding principles and techniques.
• Experience with mobile apps development and debugging.

Desirable skills

• Agile working methods.
• Experience with build orchestration tools (Ant, MSBuild) across multi-language codebases.
• OSS license compliance literacy (GPL/LGPL/reciprocal license families and why they matter for a shipped commercial product)
• Added advantage with experience in using Eggplant Performance and Eggplant Functional software.
