Product Owner / Product Manager, Data & Insights Stockholm or Sheffield · Hybrid (at least 2 days a week in the office) · Full-time, permanent What we do We are passionate believers in the power of education to transform people’s lives. We help students finding, applying to and enrolling in the right study program. Our multi-sided platforms help over 100 million prospective students every year find their ideal match among thousands of partner institutions, across a global network of hundreds of student websites.
It is a complicated and diverse problem space. We work hard to understand the needs of each student and each institution, and use technology and data to recommend the best matches for both. About the role Our Data & Insights squad builds the data products that Keystone runs on. These include analytics and reporting tools that help education providers measure and improve their recruitment performance, a shared data platform and business KPIs for leadership, and AI-supported tools for creating and publishing program and institution content.
You will decide what that engineering team builds and in which order. You will turn the strategic direction set by management into a roadmap the squad can deliver. The role starts as Product Owner and is designed to grow. The aim is for you to become a full Product Manager from around month 9, owning a product area outright. What you will do Own one prioritised backlog across all Data & Insights products, refined weekly with the Engineering Manager and readable by anyone.
Take each product owner’s outcomes into quarterly planning and leave with a plan the engineering team has sized and agreed. Decide on priority conflicts between stakeholders during the quarter and keep a decision log with the reason and owner for every pause, trade-off and change. Write clear acceptance criteria for every epic and decide whether delivered work meets them. Communicate releases to stakeholders. Manage product risks, such as scope, priority and dependencies on other business areas, and make priority decisions on blockers quickly.
Run a regular sync with the product owners that ends with the order of work written down. Keep the squad’s roadmap and OKRs up to date and visible to leadership. Track adoption, usage and performance of the data products, and iterate based on what you learn. Gather feedback from customers and internal users to shape what comes next. What success looks like First 30 days The backlog is in one place and ordered, and you take part in the squad ceremonies to keep work moving forward.
By month 6 The squad hits its delivery targets, with most work delivered on time against the quarterly plan and little scope change after it is locked. You write the squad’s quarterly objectives rather than collecting them. From month 9 You own adoption and outcome metrics for at least one product, likely the shared data platform. You step into the Product Manager role for that area. What you bring 2+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar, working daily with engineers on a shared backlog.
Data literacy: you can write a SQL query, read a web analytics or data warehouse result, and tell when a metric looks wrong. Experience serving several stakeholders who each believe they come first and saying no to some of them in a way they accept. A structured, precise way of writing requirements and prioritising. Strong communication skills: you manage stakeholders with confidence, and you can talk to developers and translate business needs into clear technical requirements, and technical trade-offs back into plain language for the business.
Clear written and spoken English. Most decisions here travel by Jira, Confluence and email. It is a plus if you have a background in B2B data products, analytics tools or edtech, experience with dashboarding tools (for example Looker, Tableau or Power BI), experience with CRM migrations, or familiarity with AI-based content tools.
