Role Overview

Our clients have moved past AI pilots. They want AI that runs in production, inside their own systems, and delivers measurable results. We are growing our Forward Deployed Engineering team to make that happen.

You work embedded with the client: you frame the problem with the people who own it, build the solution, and stay until it runs in production and delivers value. The role combines a consultant’s judgement with a senior AI engineer’s skills: an executive workshop in the morning, shipped code in the afternoon.

You will embed AI agents and GenAI solutions in client operations, and help modernise how KPMG delivers its own services. We build primarily on Microsoft (Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio), alongside Anthropic’s Claude, and use other platforms where they fit better.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong Python. TypeScript or C# is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM applications: prompt and context engineering, RAG, tool use, agent frameworks (Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, Claude Agent SDK or LangGraph) and evaluation.
• Experience with Azure AI services (Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AI Search, Functions, Container Apps) and Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio extensibility. Experience with Anthropic’s Claude, AWS or GCP is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, data pipelines, CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code and LLMOps.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, and documentation and client deliverables of the highest quality.
• Confidence with senior business stakeholders: structuring ambiguous problems, running workshops and managing expectations.
• Experience driving training, change and adoption.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or a related field, or equivalent experience. Azure AI Engineer or Azure Developer certifications are desirable.

Consulting

• Frame problems with client stakeholders and find where AI delivers measurable value.
• Run discovery workshops and turn the findings into a scope, success measures and a delivery plan.
• Engage senior business stakeholders: explain options, trade-offs, risks and costs, and present results at executive level.
• Shape new engagements: proposals, estimates, demonstrations and proofs of concept.

Engineering

• Design, build and deploy AI agents, RAG solutions and LLM applications, from prototype to production.
• Integrate AI with client systems and data through APIs, connectors and MCP servers.
• Build in evaluation, observability, guardrails and cost monitoring from day one.
• Meet security, data protection and responsible AI standards, including the EU AI Act.
• Own solutions after go-live and improve them as usage grows.
• Adoption and reuse
• Write clear, high-quality documentation: solution designs, decision records, runbooks and user guides.
• Lead training and adoption, so solutions are used and deliver the value they were built for.
• Turn field lessons into reusable components and accelerators, and feed insight back to KPMG platform teams.

Preferred Experience

• A client-facing technical role (consulting, solutions engineering or forward deployed) combined with hands-on delivery.
• AI solutions taken from discovery to production, with measurable business impact.
• Embedded work in regulated sectors such as financial services, insurance or the public sector.
• AI governance and security, such as prompt injection defences and data leakage controls.
