Location: Singapore
About the Role
We are seeking a lawyer with at least 4 years of experience to join our Energy, Resources, and Infrastructure team in Singapore, which serves as our hub for Asia.
Our team supports clients on the development, acquisition and financing of energy and infrastructure assets, with a particular focus on power and data centre projects, across SE Asia and the broader APAC region. We also work regularly with clients in other areas, including natural resources, TMT, life sciences and the broader infrastructure sector. Our work includes:
Structuring and documentation for the full life cycle of a wide variety of projects, including construction and operations
Joint ventures and other early project participation arrangements
Advising on all types of mergers & acquisition activity, including advice on cross-border investment (and country entry)
Commodities sale and purchase/offtake transactions
General corporate and regulatory advice
We work regularly and closely with other Mallesons practice groups in Singapore and across our Australian offices, including our M&A, TMT, Banking & Finance and Funds teams.
Applicant criteria for the position
We are looking for someone enthusiastic about contributing to Mallesons’ growth in Singapore and working with our Australian offices. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across our firm.
We seek candidates with demonstrated experience advising on projects for clients in the region. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in construction arrangements and legal qualifications recognised in Singapore. Additionally, candidates will have:
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in similar private practice (or relevant inhouse) roles working on energy, resources, and infrastructure matters
Sectoral exposure to conventional energy, gas and renewables projects across jurisdictions in SE Asia and North Asia. Experience in the Australian market and with data centre developments will also be highly regarded.
Strong project management skills and experience
First-rate experience in drafting high quality documents, ideally covering the full life cycle of projects including construction, operation & maintenance, supply & offtake, joint venture/governance, and M&A transactions.
Excellent analytical, communication, and research skills to deliver prompt and commercially astute advice
A strong commitment to client service and well-developed relationship management abilities, playing a key role in supporting and actively developing our client relationships (and experience helping to manage strategic relationships and networks, and thinking creatively about other opportunities for practice development)
You will bring a world view, and a curiosity about the macro events and trends that matter (or will matter in the future) to our clients, and an APAC-wide focus that isn’t defined or limited by geographic or market boundaries. These qualities make our team adaptable and agile, and able to look around corners for our clients.
You will have a proven ability to cultivate and sustain strong client relationships. We want you to participate in our team’s growth, while developing your own practice. A collaborative spirit is also important because we work closely with colleagues and professionals across the APAC region and we coordinate local counsel for multi-jurisdictional projects.
Finally, you will also need a recognised legal qualification in a common law jurisdiction.
Join us and be part of a dynamic team driving growth and excellence in the Energy, Resources, and Infrastructure sector.
