About this opportunity
Lloyds Banking Group is looking for a Skills Development Partner to help shape the future capability of our workforce.
You’ll combine workforce insight, skills intelligence, emerging technology and market trends to identify skills gaps, define future priorities and turn insight into targeted action.
We’re looking for someone who is curious, strategic and commercially minded, with the confidence to influence senior leaders and connect business priorities with workforce capability. Your experience could come from learning and development, strategy, transformation, consulting, digital, talent, organisational development or operations.
Don't just respond to the future. Help create it.
The world of work is changing rapidly. New technologies, evolving customer expectations and emerging skills are reshaping roles and how work gets done.
To stay ahead, we need to understand not only the skills we need today, but those that will drive our success tomorrow.
You’ll bring an external perspective and fresh thinking, connecting workforce insights, market trends and emerging technologies to spot opportunities, challenge conventional thinking and turn ideas into action.
Because organisations that succeed tomorrow won’t just react to change. They’ll prepare for it.
What makes this role different?
This isn’t a traditional learning role. As a Skills Development Partner, you’ll work strategically with leaders to understand current and future skills needs across some of our most important workforce populations.
Using skills intelligence, workforce data, assessment insights and external trends, you’ll help identify capability gaps and shape meaningful interventions that build future workforce readiness.
You’ll help us answer questions such as
- What skills will matter most in the future?
- How can we identify skills gaps before they become business risks?
- How can we support colleagues as roles evolve within a Skills Based Organisation?
- How we embed and measure meaningful impact?
What you'll be doing
- Support in shaping and delivering skills strategies for key professions, helping ensure the workforce is equipped for current and future business needs.
- Use skills intelligence, workforce data, assessments and proficiency insights to identify skills gaps, emerging risks and priority opportunities.
- Manage targeted skills interventions, including job family changes and proposition enhancements, that address priority gaps and future skills requirements.
- Translate external trends, market insight and emerging technologies into practical recommendations that inform workforce and skills decisions.
- Partner with senior leaders and SMEs to define future skills requirements and capability priorities.
- Drive interventions that improve skills proficiency, workforce readiness and organisational performance.
- Leverage skills frameworks, taxonomies and skills assessment data to support evidence-based decision making.
- Connect workforce planning, talent, technology and organisation design to deliver joined-up solutions.
- Measure impact, evaluate outcomes and continuously improve skills propositions through data and insight.
- Why join us?
- We’re transforming at pace. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to change the way we meet the needs of our 28 million customers. We’re growing, and we’d love you to be part of the journey.
What we’re looking for
Use data, insight and visualisation to form informed opinions, communicate plans clearly, tell compelling stories and influence decisions.
Build trusted relationships and bring people together around shared skills and workforce priorities.
Connect business strategy, technology change and workforce capability to anticipate and shape longer-term talent and skills needs.
Think strategically and deliver tangible outcomes, looking beyond immediate learning needs to consider longer-term workforce capability, even in complex or ambiguous environments.
Bring strong consultancy and influencing skills, confidently challenging assumptions, offering fresh perspectives and building credibility with senior stakeholders.
Apply an understanding of learning psychology to challenge thinking and help shape effective approaches to skills and capability development.
Stay curious and externally focused, keeping up with emerging skills, workforce trends and future capabilities.
Bring genuine energy and enthusiasm for shaping the future of talent.
We're less concerned about where you've come from and more interested in how you think.
We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
This is a place for you

And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.
We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes

An annual performance-related bonus
Share schemes including free shares
Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
