What you’ll be doing

Shape the future of Protection

Scottish Widows Protection is growing, and we’re looking for a commercially minded Senior Pricing & Reinsurance Manager to help shape our next chapter. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll influence pricing, reinsurance and proposition strategy—helping more customers access the protection they need while supporting sustainable business growth.

You’ll be an innovative and collaborative commercial leader who combines sound judgement with curiosity and is comfortable challenging established thinking. And, you’ll lead a talented team, building strong reinsurance partnerships and using data, analytics and AI to improve pricing decisions, customer journeys and commercial performance. You’ll also act as Product Owner for strategic pricing capabilities, turning ambitious ideas into practical solutions.

What you’ll do

Lead, coach and develop our Pricing & Reinsurance team.

Set pricing strategy across intermediary and bancassurance propositions, balancing customer value, competitiveness and sustainable returns.

Use customer, market and competitor insight to identify opportunities for growth.

Lead reinsurance relationships and negotiations, making effective decisions on risk transfer and self-insurance.

Work with Underwriting Strategy and Proposition teams to deliver strong customer and commercial outcomes.

Use data, advanced analytics and AI to strengthen segmentation, customer journeys, conversion and pricing capability.

Why join us?

You’ll join one of the UK’s leading Protection businesses in a role that brings together pricing, reinsurance, innovation and leadership. Your work will shape important decisions, develop future capability and help more customers and families gain financial protection.

What you’ll bring

  • A strong actuarial background, ideally gained in Protection, Life Insurance or Retail Financial Services.
  • Senior-level experience in pricing, commercial strategy, actuarial or reinsurance roles.
  • Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of how pricing supports growth, profitability and customer outcomes.
  • The ability to translate complex customer, market and analytical insight into clear action.
  • An interest in using technology, advanced analytics and AI to improve pricing and risk management.
  • A track record of leading change, influencing senior stakeholders and developing people.

This is a place for you

Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities, and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.

We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.
