The opportunity
This is not a purely transactional graduate role. You will work on real Finance priorities, use data to find insights, apply AI and digital tools responsibly, and turn analysis into clear recommendations for colleagues and leaders. You will build a broad understanding of how Finance supports LSEG, protects value and enables better business decisions.
What you will do
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, explain performance and support decisions.
- Help prepare management reporting, forecasts, budgets and clear commentary, with a focus on what the numbers mean and what action may be needed.
- Build and improve dashboards, reports and repeatable analysis using tools such as Excel, Power BI and other approved Finance platforms.
- Use approved AI tools, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, to research, summarise, draft, analyse and streamline routine work, while checking outputs and applying sound judgement.
- Work with Finance colleagues and business stakeholders to clarify questions, gather evidence and translate analysis into concise recommendations.
- Support month-end, planning and other core Finance cycles, learning how strong controls, accurate data and disciplined execution underpin reliable reporting.
- Contribute to transformation and continuous improvement, including simplifying processes, reducing manual activity, testing new tools and documenting better ways of working.
- Help maintain data quality, controls and systems of record, escalating issues promptly and handling information responsibly.
- Present findings to colleagues and senior stakeholders, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
- Take ownership of defined workstreams, seek feedback and build capability through formal learning, coaching and practical experience.
The experience you could gain
Placements will vary according to business priorities. Examples may include:
- Financial planning and analysis: forecasting, performance reporting, scenario analysis and decision support.
- Controllership and reporting: financial close, reconciliations, governance, controls and statutory or management reporting.
- Finance operations: process performance, service delivery, automation and operational improvement.
- Treasury, tax, investor relations or commercial finance: supporting specialist analysis and enterprise priorities.
- Finance transformation: data, systems, process redesign, change delivery and adoption of AI-enabled ways of working.
What we are looking for
- A degree or equivalent experience. We welcome candidates from any discipline who can demonstrate strong numerical reasoning and an interest in Finance.
- Data literacy: confidence working with data, spotting patterns, questioning results and explaining insights clearly.
- Digital curiosity: willingness to learn new tools and use AI responsibly to improve quality, speed and productivity.
- Analytical thinking: the ability to break down a problem, test assumptions and reach an evidence-based view.
- Clear communication: able to turn complex information into simple, useful messages for different audiences.
- Collaboration and stakeholder skills: comfortable working across teams, asking good questions and building trusted relationships.
- Ownership and learning agility: organised, proactive and willing to act on feedback in a fast-moving environment.
- Integrity and judgement: understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, controls and responsible use of data and AI.
- Data and reporting tools: some experience using analytical or development tools such as SQL, Python or Power BI to analyse data, automate analysis and build insightful reports and dashboards.
Useful but not essential
- Experience using Excel or another analytical tool to organise, analyse or visualise data.
- Exposure to Power BI, coding, automation or AI tools through study, work experience or personal projects.
- An understanding of financial statements, markets or how a Finance function supports a global business.
- Programming language
How you will make an impact
You will be expected to move beyond producing information. The value comes from using evidence, technology and judgement to help Finance answer three questions:
- What is happening?
- Why does it matter?
- What should we do next?
Development
You will take part in the graduate learning curriculum, receive support from experienced colleagues and build role-specific Finance, data and AI capability. You will be encouraged to experiment with approved tools, learn from mistakes and share practical improvements with the wider team.
