The team is responsible for the strategy, development, commercialization, and ongoing evolution of retirement products and platforms—including product roadmaps, pricing, advisor experiences, and go-to-market execution. Our objective is to make retirement a powerful engine for advisor growth and better client outcomes by creating a seamless path from Plan → Account → Wealth.
The Vice President, Retirement Product Strategy & Development is a senior product leadership role with general management responsibility for Retirement Partners’ product team and accountability for the retirement product and platform portfolio. This leader will shape and execute the product vision, own integrated development roadmaps, and translate enterprise strategy into scalable capabilities that materially improve the advisor and client experience.
Working across Technology, Operations, Research, Legal, Product Risk, Finance, Comprehensive Advice, Marketing & Communications, Sales, and other Wealth Management teams, the VP will lead complex initiatives from opportunity identification and business case development through design, launch, commercialization, adoption, and ongoing optimization. The role requires a leader who can combine deep retirement expertise, product-management discipline, commercial judgment, and strong cross-functional influence to deliver measurable business outcomes.
Strategic Priorities
- This role will lead and/or materially advance priorities that strengthen LPL’s integrated retirement and wealth proposition, including:
- Launching solutions that provide advisors access to active workplace retirement accounts and held-away retirement assets.
- Developing and commercializing pooled and multiple-employer solutions, including PEP/MEP/MEAP capabilities, to accelerate net-new plan growth.
- Expanding the Small Business Owner retirement and workplace-benefits suite, including NQDC and Cash Balance Plan capabilities.
- Delivering a competitive, fully custodied retail retirement suite across SEP, SIMPLE, and Solo 401(k) products.
- Modernizing retirement experiences, data, workflows, and platform capabilities to reduce advisor friction and improve scalability.
- Optimizing the retirement-to-wealth flywheel through stronger rollover, retention, participant advice, and cross-sell capabilities.
- Building disciplined go-to-market strategies for new product launches that drive advisor awareness, adoption, and measurable commercial impact.
Responsibilities
Own product vision and roadmap. Set the strategic direction and integrated roadmap for Retirement Partners’ products and platforms, balancing advisor needs, market opportunity, economics, regulatory requirements, risk, and technology dependencies.
Lead product development end to end. Convert strategic opportunities into clear business cases, product requirements, journey maps, workflows, and executable development plans; guide initiatives from concept through launch and continuous improvement.
Drive commercialization and adoption. Partner with Marketing, Communications, Sales, Consulting, and Service teams to develop positioning, launch plans, advisor education, adoption strategies, and success measures for new and enhanced solutions.
Serve as a retirement product authority. Act as a subject matter expert across Retirement Partners offerings, including BOR, 401(k), NQDC, 403(b), HSAs, pooled-plan solutions, retail retirement products, and related platform capabilities.
Bring the advisor voice into product decisions. Engage advisors to understand needs, pain points, and emerging opportunities; translate feedback into prioritized roadmap decisions that support holistic wealth management.
Create differentiated advisor experiences. Lead the design and enhancement of end-to-end workflows and journeys that make retirement solutions easier to understand, adopt, implement, and service.
Lead through influence. Mobilize cross-functional teams across Technology, Operations, Legal, Risk, Finance, Research, Comprehensive Advice, and other product organizations to remove barriers and deliver enterprise-scale outcomes.
Strengthen product governance and risk management. Partner with Product Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to embed effective due diligence, operational readiness, controls, and ongoing monitoring throughout the product lifecycle.
Stay ahead of the market. Monitor regulatory developments, competitor offerings, pricing, policy, platform innovation, and advisor trends; turn insights into actionable recommendations that strengthen LPL’s competitive position.
Build product-management excellence. Help standardize product-management disciplines, decision frameworks, prioritization, measurement, and commercialization practices across Retirement Partners and partner organizations.
Lead and develop talent. Provide direction, coaching, and accountability to the product team while building a high-performance culture focused on strategic thinking, execution excellence, collaboration, and measurable outcomes.

- Deep knowledge of retirement products, workplace and individual retirement markets, institutional accounts, and the regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated success developing and launching complex financial products, platforms, or digital capabilities from strategy through commercialization.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to evaluate market opportunities, economics, customer needs, risk, and execution tradeoffs to make sound product decisions.
- Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives in a highly matrixed organization and drive decisions without relying solely on direct authority.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, roadmap prioritization, agile development, workflow and journey design, and go-to-market execution.
- Exceptional executive communication, storytelling, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate advisor and client insights into scalable product solutions and measurable business outcomes.
