Overview

The Digital Asset Risk & Compliance team is looking for a Manager, Financial Risk who will provide dedicated Second Line expertise to support BVNK’s integration into Mastercard and the build-out of the Digital Asset Risk & Compliance function. The role is responsible for ensuring that credit, settlement, counterparty, collateral, liquidity, and related financial risks are understood, measured, monitored, and governed within Mastercard’s risk appetite.

Role

Credit Risk Oversight & Challenge

  • Provide Second Line oversight and challenge for BVNK financial risk exposures, including credit, settlement, counterparty, collateral, and related digital assets related activity.
  • Review credit exposure assessments, risk ratings, portfolio metrics, credit limit utilization and risk reporting for alignment with policy, risk appetite and established thresholds.
  • Challenge the adequacy of First Line controls for settlement exposure (including intraday and prefunding risk), liquidity provider and banking partner exposure, and credit risk mitigants.
  • Identify, assess and escalate material issues, breaches, deteriorating exposures, and emerging risks to the SVP, Credit Risk and relevant governance forums.

Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Appetite

  • Monitor exposure trends, portfolio performance, concentration, limit utilization, and key risk indicators against approved thresholds and risk appetite.
  • Identify emerging risk themes, adverse trends, and control gaps before they escalate into governance or customer protection issues.
  • Support risk rating, counterparty scoring, stress testing, expected loss analysis, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Ensure timely escalation of threshold breaches, policy exceptions, risk acceptance requests, and material risk deterioration through established governance.

Governance, Integration & Financial Risk Enablement

  • Support the build-out of the Digital Asset Risk & Compliance function, including financial risk frameworks, governance, reporting, and operating routines.
  • Support BVNK’s integration by translating Mastercard financial risk policies and procedures into clear requirements, controls, and evidence standards.
  • Partner with Mastercard and BVNK stakeholders to align financial risk ownership, oversight, escalation, and decision-making.
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented materials for senior management, risk committees, integration governance forums, audit, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain clear and audit-ready documentation of assumptions, decisions, exceptions, dependencies, issues, ownership, and remediation actions.

All About You

  • Experience across financial risk disciplines, including credit, counterparty, settlement, liquidity, and collateral risk.
  • Ability to apply financial risk principles to digital assets, stablecoins, tokenized settlement, prefunding, and banking partner exposures.
  • Experience in banking, payments, fintech, digital assets, or another regulated financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of exposure measurement, risk ratings, limits, stress testing, expected loss, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of Second Line oversight, independent challenge, risk appetite, and escalation.
  • Ability to translate policy into practical controls, monitoring, governance, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical judgment and ability to bring structure to complex or evolving risks.
  • Clear communicator who can build trusted partnerships while maintaining independent challenge and risk discipline.
