We look beyond the immediate challenge to support people in moments that matter across their lives, and continually push for better solutions for our clients.
We invest in and empower our people to stand up for what we believe in and go fearlessly forward together.
We work on real cases, achieving important and positive results in real people’s lives, which is why we are one of Australia’s most respected law firms. Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on.
About the role
We’re on a bold transformation journey, and you can help shape the future of legal services, where legal expertise meets technology, automation and scale.
We’re building cutting-edge and unprecedented, AI-enabled ways for people to access legal services, and in this newly created role, reporting to the Head of Partnerships (Principal Lawyer), as our Partnerships Lead (Senior Associate), you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining and growing our partnerships network. This is a unique opportunity to change how client’s access and experience legal services and you will have access to state-of-the-art AI and technology tools to help you. This is a role with impact.
We need someone to build partnerships with other law firms and take partner firms from first meeting to go-live, shape the product alongside our AI and UX teams, and help grow a network that gets people to the right legal help faster.
This is meaningful work. Maurice Blackburn exists to level the playing field for everyday Australians, and you’ll be helping to make access to justice faster and more scalable.
What you’ll do
- Build relationships with practice managers, partners and senior stakeholders at external law firms, and own onboarding from first conversation through to go-live
- Design with partners by running workshops to understand their needs, then working with our tech and product teams to build new or better solutions
- Test and improve product performance using data-led insights
- Identify new partnership opportunities and legal tech opportunities with the Head of Partnerships, and build AI-assisted tools and workflows to make the team faster
- Collaborate and influence at all levels to remove barriers and keep work moving.
- The experience we are looking for
- You come from legal practice, legal technology or legal operations, at senior associate level or equivalent
- Have taken on complex commercial work and negotiations with commercially sophisticated counterparties including running discussions and negotiating contracts
- Write with precision and can present credibly to senior leaders
- Work autonomously, juggle multiple workstreams and know when to escalate
- Are fluent in AI tools (or have demonstrated record of learning new applications quickly) and use them to drive commercial results
- Care deeply about access to justice
- Enterprise negotiation experience highly desirable
- Project management, proven ability to run several workstreams at once, keeping each one moving and on schedule
- Agile or product delivery experience is an advantage
- Admission as an Australian legal practitioner is strongly desirable but not essential.
