Agentic Innovation Specialist

CWP Energy is hiring an Agentic Innovation Specialist to make AI a real driver of growth across our trading technology, not only a way to work faster. You will join a team of hands-on builders who ship agentic systems alongside engineers, quantitative analysts and business partners on the trade desk. CWP Energy is the physical power trading division of McGill St-Laurent, a Montreal-based group with teams in Canada and the US.

This is not a data science or ML research role. We want a practical builder with a strong technical background and a proven record of AI-enabled delivery: the person others turn to when they want to get real work out of AI. What you'll do Agentic Innovation Run an AI lab for rapid innovation: test agentic solutions on prioritized use cases, and fail fast. Productize the use cases that prove out, following the approach set by the team.

Create growth, not just efficiency: deliver and scale agentic solutions that open up new capabilities for the business. Partner with desk users and quantitative analysts to identify workflows and analytical processes that can be automated. Build testing and validation harnesses, including simulation and backtesting, so AI-enabled solutions are verified before they go live. Build more agentic systems, from decision-support agents to broader operations automation.

Operations Operate an AI harness that orchestrates, monitors, secures and scales AI agents across our platform. What you'll bring A strong technical background, with several years of professional experience delivering working solutions in production. A proven track record in agentic innovation: creating and delivering agents that can transform a business. A bias for fast experiments and clear go/no-go decisions, and the discipline to turn a promising prototype into a supported product.

The ability to validate the quality of agent outputs without being a domain expert, including finding ways, most often with AI itself, to evaluate results independently when subject-matter experts are not available. Comfort working directly with desk users and quantitative analysts, translating their ideas into working systems. Strong communication: you can explain trade-offs to non-technical colleagues and help them get comfortable using what you build.

Fluency in at least one of English and French. Nice to have Exposure to energy, commodities or financial trading, or to backtesting and simulation. Experience building agents with tool use, orchestration, evaluation and monitoring, and a feel for what makes them reliable or brittle. Practical judgment on cost versus quality across frontier and open-source models, including running models locally. Experience with security, access control and audit for AI agents in a regulated or data-sensitive environment.

Experience with Python and modern data tooling, and with building evaluation harnesses for LLM systems. Fluency in both English and French.
