Senior UI/UX Designer Position Overview Meridian Systematics is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to own the user experience of data and analytic applications supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). You will turn complex mission needs into clear, intuitive interfaces that help analysts find, understand, and act on intelligence data. You will work daily with product owners, engineers, and mission users, lead the evolution of the design system, and mentor other designers. Responsibilities
- Own the full design lifecycle, from discovery, user flows, and wireframes to high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes.
- Maintain and scale the design system, building reusable UI component libraries that speed up front-end development.
- Plan and run user research and usability testing with analysts and mission users to uncover pain points and validate designs.
- Partner with product owners to align features with mission priorities, and with engineers on precise handoff documentation and design QA.
- Present design rationale, research findings, and product direction to stakeholders and build buy-in.
- Design for accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), edge cases, responsive layouts, and performance. Qualifications Required:
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- 5+ years of UI/UX or product design experience on complex software applications.
- A portfolio showing end-to-end product design, strong visual craft, systematic UI architecture, and data-informed UX decisions.
- Expert proficiency in Figma or comparable tools (Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Framer).
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and how layout, component logic, and responsive design work in development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage several initiatives without losing pixel-level detail. Preferred:
- Experience designing data-heavy, analytic, or geospatial (map-based) applications.
- Experience in DoD environments.
- Experience mentoring junior designers.
