Method Technology/Software

Junior Quality Engineer

Toronto, Canada Hybrid Full-time

Opportunity Our Development team is growing and we’re looking for a Junior Quality Engineer to join us as an active engineering partner whose primary objective is to eliminate manual testing through automation, AI coding agents, and robust test frameworks. In this role, you will leverage AI coding agents to translate requirements into clear test plans and reliable test automation, prepare code changes, review and validate diffs, integrate changes, and build and harden Playwright test suites.

You will also investigate test failures and flaky tests while improving CI/CD pipelines and release-confidence workflows. Manual testing remains only a small, deliberate part of the role focused on exploratory testing and evaluating complex edge cases that automation cannot cover. About Method Method is on a mission to transform how small businesses operate by giving them real control over their customer workflows. Our flagship product, Method CRM is purpose-built for small businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and generic tools.

With deep QuickBooks integration and a powerful no-code customization engine, Method enables users to design workflows that truly fit their unique needs. As a scaling growth company, we’re now taking that mission further, leveraging AI to develop intelligent agents that assist users in rapidly building and customizing no-code apps. This innovation is at the heart of our next chapter, and we’re looking for people who are excited to build the future of work!

The Role As a Quality Engineer, you will be part of a driven and supportive team that’s always striving to deliver value to our customers by: - Partnering actively across engineering to decide how test automation is designed, built, maintained, and continuously improved. - Leveraging AI coding agents to turn software requirements into comprehensive test plans and working test automation. - Preparing code changes, reviewing and validating diffs, and seamlessly integrating changes into the codebase. - Running, expanding, and hardening Playwright automation suites while investigating failures and resolving flaky tests. - Enhancing CI/CD automation pipelines and workflows to maximize release confidence. - Performing deliberate, targeted manual testing (such as exploratory testing and edge-case validation) to cover critical risks that automation cannot.

What You Bring Before you read this next section, we want you to know that we know the “ideal candidate” doesn’t exist — everybody has a unique background and skill set. Even if you don’t check every box below, we’d love for you to apply - we are building for the future and growth potential is a priority for us! - Post-secondary education in the following areas preferred: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent training/experience. - Good understanding of JavaScript/Typescript, Python and Java languages. - Good understanding of relational databases, especially SQL Server. - 1+ years of working experience in developing Integration Testing (API level) with Python or other languages. - 1+ years of working experience with Selenium based tools or Playwright. - Fluent with Git source control, and GitHub. - Passionate for building engaging user experiences. - Must be self-motivated, goal driven and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize. - A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall team’s success in a fast paced environment. - Experience with the following is a nice to have: exposure to Gatling, Postman, .NET Web stack: MVC, Web API, React, Redux, MongoDB, ElasticSearch and Redis, good understanding of OOD/OOP, and experience with Agile methodology, such as Kanban or Scrum. - Demonstrated AI-first mindset and initiative, with concrete examples of using AI tools or coding agents to improve speed and quality in engineering workflows (distinguishing simple chat assistance from agentic workflows). - Strong "trust-and-verify" judgment when validating AI-generated output, diffs, and test suites (demonstrated evidence through side projects or hands-on practice is welcome, but not strictly required).
