The Opportunity

We are seeking a Litigation Operations Specialist, AI & eDiscovery, to join MetLife’s in-house Legal Services Team, supporting the Litigation Unit within Government and Legal Affairs as well as broader Legal Services initiatives across the function.

This role leads end-to-end litigation operations while advancing technology-enabled process transformation across the litigation function. The position designs and governs scalable, defensible workflows, including the responsible use of AI and automation, while strengthening litigation processes, data and reporting, vendor performance and measurable outcomes. Working across legal, technology and business teams, this individual translates complex needs into practical solutions and builds sustainable team capability through documented processes, reusable tools and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities

Own litigation operations and execution end to end. Run legal holds, discovery, matter intake, case tracking, and milestones as documented, defensible processes; coordinate outside counsel, discovery and technology providers, and internal partners on scope, budget, timeline, quality, and service levels; and identify cost or performance issues early.

Design, deploy and govern AI-enabled workflows. Identify repeatable litigation work suited for automation; build workflows and reusable assets, including playbooks, templates, process maps, documentation, and prompt libraries; maintain them as requirements change; and define the human review, validation, escalation, confidentiality, and documentation controls needed for responsible use.

Own litigation data, reporting, and measurable improvement. Maintain accurate matter, vendor and spend data; produce recurring reports and leadership metrics; surface trends, exceptions, and anomalies; and lead process-improvement projects from first principles mapping and root-cause analysis through implementation and quantified before-and-after results.

Partner and translate across the enterprise. Work effectively with attorneys, technology, procurement, privacy, records, and business stakeholders, translating between legal and technical audiences and driving alignment and execution without direct authority.

Build sustainable team capability. Coach the litigation team on new tools, documented workflows, and improved ways of working so knowledge transfers across matters, teams, and regions rather than remaining with one person.

Required Qualifications

1-2 years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated expertise of litigation support, paralegal and/or legal operations experience in a large law firm or corporate legal department, including hands-on ownership of legal hold and eDiscovery processes across the full litigation lifecycle, including eDiscovery processes.

Demonstrated project and stakeholder management capability, including defining scope and milestones, managing several concurrent workstreams and vendors to deadline, reporting credibly to senior audiences, and exercising sound independent judgment and appropriate escalation in a fast-paced, changing environment where processes may still be developing.

Evidence of redesigning and improving processes by mapping the current state, identifying root causes, implementing better workflows, and measuring results, together with working fluency in generative AI and workflow automation and an understanding of human review, output validation, confidentiality, and sensitive-data safeguards.

Strong data, reporting and communication skills, including building and maintaining reports from legal systems and spreadsheets, translating data into recommendations, and conveying information clearly to legal, technical, and business audiences.

High School diploma required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry, including handling personal and sensitive data under applicable privacy and records requirements and coordinating with distributed teams across regions and time zones.

Experience directly building AI-enabled or automated solutions by configuring workflows, writing and refining prompts, testing and iterating, and contributing to or leading transformation, process-redesign or technology-adoption efforts within a legal or operations function; formal training or credentialing in AI or automation, project management, or process improvement is preferred.

Experience owning vendor relationships, including scope, budget, and performance management, together with proficiency in litigation support and legal technology platforms, matter and spend management systems, and advanced Microsoft Word and Excel.

Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA-approved institution is strongly preferred.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $89,700 - $119,500. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
