Business Trust Partner

Redmond, WA In person Full-time

Overview

The Business Trust Partner (BTP) within Trust and Integrity Protection (TrIP) is a strategic partner to Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) business leaders. The role helps leaders understand and act on their end-to-end trust and compliance posture by translating business priorities, operating changes, risk signals, and cross-domain compliance information into clear actions and accountable outcomes.

The BTP delivers a repeatable, risk-profile-based service aligned to the Business Trust Accountability (BTA) Framework. The role connects the business with TrIP risk-domain teams, provides consolidated visibility across risk, audit, monitoring, and remediation activity, identifies emerging concerns before they escalate, and enables a practical culture of compliance-by-design.

The BTP does not replace domain risk owners or perform every underlying assessment; instead, the role integrates insights, clarifies ownership, reduces hand-offs, and helps the business and TrIP move risks to resolution.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We foster a culture of growth, innovation, collaboration, respect, integrity, and accountability where everyone can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Business Risk Partnership and Translation
  • Develop a deep understanding of the assigned business, its strategy, operating rhythms, customers, critical processes, and changing risk profile.
  • Translate TrIP requirements and initiatives into business-relevant priorities, roadmaps, decisions, and actions, and bring business context back to risk-domain teams.
  • Consolidated Trust and Compliance Visibility
  • Aggregate relevant risk-domain, audit, OneRadar, monitoring, control, and remediation information into clear business-level views.
  • Support periodic trust or compliance assessments that explain overall posture, areas of heightened focus, TrIP activity, accountable owners, and required business actions.
  • Proactive Signal Identification and Triage
  • Use business champions, stakeholder listening channels, operating forums, organisational updates, and data-informed insights to identify early signals of emerging or systemic risk.
  • Capture, categorise, trend, and route signals to the appropriate risk-domain or leadership owner, and track their disposition and progress.
  • Cross-Domain Accountability and Issue Resolution
  • Act as a connector across TrIP and the business when issues span multiple risk domains or lack a clear owner.
  • Facilitate assignment to a named accountable lead, establish a visible path to decision or remediation, and reduce the number of separate contacts and hand-offs the business must navigate.
  • BTA Framework and Compliance Enablement
  • Partner with leaders to define and sustain a compliance support model aligned to the organisation’s structure, maturity, and risk profile.
  • Support annual compliance planning and business risk profiling, champion enablement, TrIP service awareness, leadership tone-from-the-top communications, and integration of accountability into existing business rhythms.
  • Strategic Communication and Business Readouts
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented updates on top business signals, organisational changes, key projects, risk outlook, and emerging themes.
  • Tailor communications for business and TrIP leadership so initiatives are timed, explained, and adopted in ways that support business priorities and customer outcomes.
  • Governance, Measurement, and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain disciplined operating cadences and measurable service outcomes.
  • Track indicators such as proactive signals raised and triaged, emerging risks identified before escalation, ownership and routing timeliness, remediation progress, stakeholder adoption, and reduction in friction or unresolved hand-offs.
  • Use feedback and data to improve the BTP service model.
  • Risk Hunting and Resilience Feedback Loop
  • Provide business-derived signals and insights from critical processes, business-impact considerations, new technologies, AI-enabled scenarios, and operating-model changes to relevant risk-hunting and resilience teams.
  • Help connect validated findings back into the business risk portfolio and appropriate governance forums.
  • Embody our culture and values
