Software Engineer

Bengaluru, India In person Full-time

Overview

Microsoft is a company where passionate innovators come to collaborate, envision what can be and take their careers further. This is a world of more possibilities, more innovation, more openness, and the sky is the limit thinking in a cloud-enabled world.

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

Within Microsoft Fabric, the Data Integration team enables organizations to connect, move, and shape data across their entire data estate. As data is generated across applications, devices, and systems, our integration capabilities make it easy to ingest, transform, and prepare data for downstream use. Fabric’s unified integration experience simplifies how customers bring data together, ensuring it is trusted, usable, and ready to power analytics, real-time insights, and AI scenarios.

The Azure Messaging team builds and operates the infrastructure behind Azure Event Hubs and Azure Service Bus, enabling customers around the world to stream events and reliably connect applications.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help make this platform easier to deploy, operate, and scale. You will develop software and automation for cluster provisioning, safe upgrades, fleet health, and capacity management. You will also improve the engineering systems our team uses every day - from deployment pipelines and automated validation to diagnostics and developer tooling.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will own well-defined projects from implementation through testing and deployment. You will have opportunities to contribute to new region and cloud buildouts, evaluate emerging Azure infrastructure, and develop capabilities such as cluster autoscaling.

This role combines software development with hands-on experience operating distributed cloud services. Your contributions will reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and help the platform grow safely.

We do not just value differences or different perspectives. We seek them out and invite them in so we can tap into the collective power of everyone in the company. As a result, our customers are better served.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain software for cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

Build automation and self-service tooling that simplify recurring operational workflows and reduce manual intervention.

Improve deployment pipelines, automated tests, release validation, diagnostics, and developer workflows.

Use telemetry and debugging tools to investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement lasting improvements.

Contribute to fleet health, capacity management, free-pool optimization, and cluster autoscaling.

Support new region and cloud deployments and help validate new compute, storage, and Service Fabric capabilities.

Collaborate with experienced engineers and partner teams to design, test, deploy, and support scoped features.

Document solutions, participate in code reviews, and apply secure and reliable engineering practices.
