LCAT:Mid Data Engineer (Software Development)

• Location: DIA HQ, Washington, DC
• Required clearance and polygraph: Active TS/SCI and CI polygraph. Candidates with current CI polygraph conducted within the past 7 years highly prioritized.
• Required experience/education: 8+ years of experience and bachelor's degree

Description

As a full stack developer on our team, you'll develop, integrate, test, and maintain software capabilities from requirements through production delivery. You’ll work across the technology stack and collaborate with other engineers, architects, product owners, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable and maintainable software solutions.

You’ll use modern development tools, frameworks, and cloud technologies to solve challenging technical and mission problems. You’ll develop backend services, APIs, data integrations, and user-facing capabilities while working within established application architectures and engineering standards.

You’ll participate in technical design discussions, troubleshoot application issues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to improvements in software quality and maintainability.

Required qualifications

8+ years of experience in software engineering, including developing, testing, integrating, or maintaining software applications

5+ years of experience developing applications using Python, Java, or another object-oriented programming language

4+ years of experience developing web applications using frontend technologies or frameworks, such as React or Angular

Experience developing or integrating backend services and RESTful APIs

Experience developing applications using relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, and working with SQL

Experience working within Agile software development environments using methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban

Experience using software development and task management tools, such as Jira

TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or additional software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired qualifications

Experience developing production applications with Python

Experience developing enterprise web applications

• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures
• Experience with AWS cloud-native or serverless application development
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as CloudFormation
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Github Actions, Jenkins)
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
• Experience with automated unit, integration, or end-to-end testing
• Experience with application authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, or observability
• Experience working in DevSecOps software delivery environments.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff members.
