About the role
About the role
Shape the digital products powering The Great Grid Upgrade
As a Junior Product Manager, you'll support the strategy, evolution and delivery of secure, scalable and high-value digital products and platforms that enable The Great Grid Upgrade and the wider energy transition. Working with Product Managers, engineering, architecture, security, operations and business stakeholders, you will help turn business challenges into clear product choices, prioritised roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
This is a hybrid role, with regular team collaboration in Warwick and occasional travel across the UK.
What you'll do
- Contribute to the product strategy and roadmap, connecting user needs, business outcomes, technical direction and organisational priorities.
- Lead and support discovery, scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation, carrying requirements through delivery, transition into service and continuous improvement.
- Develop clear, evidence-led investment papers and business cases for new products and enhancements, including the problem, options, benefits, costs, risks, dependencies, measurable outcomes and recommendation.
- Support stakeholder buy-in, funding decisions and navigation through digital, commercial, financial, security and governance processes.
- Coordinate delivery across Product Owners and cross-functional teams; identify blockers, risks and dependencies and drive them to resolution.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and subject matter experts, communicate progress clearly, and constructively challenge assumptions and proposed solutions.
- Research market trends, emerging technologies and industry practice to bring relevant ideas and options into product and investment decisions.
- Champion secure-by-design, compliant and operable products, considering identity and access, information protection, service management, resilience and change governance.
- Support adoption and help build a positive digital culture by translating technical choices into clear business language and practical outcomes.
What you'll bring
- Broad technical knowledge across digital products, platforms, integrations, data, identity, security, cloud services and operational support, with the curiosity to deepen knowledge where needed.
- Product thinking that extends beyond backlog ownership to strategy, roadmap, lifecycle, value, investment and measurable outcomes.
- Ability to work in a self-managed way, use initiative, organise competing priorities and maintain momentum with limited day-to-day direction.
- Strong commercial and investment mindset, with the ability to gather evidence, compare options, articulate benefits and costs, and produce credible papers for governance and funding decisions.
- Good written and verbal communication, including the ability to turn complex technical information into a clear narrative for business, technical and senior audiences.
- Experience supporting the delivery of digital products, projects, platforms or services in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of agile delivery approaches and effective collaboration with Product Owners, engineering, architecture and delivery teams.
- Ability to build relationships, influence constructively, listen well, and challenge or be challenged in a professional and respectful way.
- Understanding of risk, dependency and stakeholder management in a complex enterprise environment.
- Customer and user focus, with an interest in using research, feedback and data to continuously improve products.
- Nice to have
- Working knowledge of identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control and conditional access.
- Understanding of security, compliance and information governance controls, including DLP, retention and audit requirements.
- Appreciation of enterprise and solution architecture principles, including integrations, APIs, data flows and non-functional requirements.
- Knowledge of IT governance and ITIL service management processes.
- Experience using delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Power BI and ServiceNow.
- Experience supporting utilities, infrastructure, construction or other major capital delivery environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrable experience contributing to digital product, platform, project or service delivery.
- Good understanding of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and associated enterprise platforms.
- Evidence of working across business and technical stakeholders to shape requirements, priorities or roadmaps.
- Experience supporting the development of business cases, investment proposals, options appraisals, or benefits-led recommendations is highly desirable.
- A recognised qualification in Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or a similar product, delivery, or agile methodology is desirable.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £57,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
