Tell the stories that keep Chicago healthy.
Every day, Near North Health cares for neighbors who have nowhere else to turn. Since 1966, we've provided accessible, affordable, high-quality primary care to everyone who walks through our doors, regardless of their ability to pay. Today we're one of the largest community-based primary care providers in Chicago.
Now we need someone to help us tell that story.
We're looking for a creative, curious Social Media Intern who wants their work to mean something. You'll help us reach more of our community, share health information that matters, and show Chicago what community health looks like up close. If you've ever scrolled past a health post and thought "I could make that better," this is your chance.
What You'll Do
- You'll work directly with our Director of External Affairs and play a real role in shaping how Near North shows up online. You will:
- Create posts, graphics, and short-form videos for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok
- Help plan and build our social media content calendar
- Bring health awareness campaigns and community events to life online
- Track trends and pitch fresh ideas that connect with our audiences
- Monitor engagement and learn to read the analytics behind what works
- Create content that respects patient privacy, HIPAA, and our brand standards
Who You Are
- A student or recent graduate interested in communications, marketing, social media, public health, or a related field
- A strong writer who can make complex topics feel simple and human
- Creative, organized, and dependable
- Comfortable on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or TikTok
- Bonus points if you've worked in Canva or similar design tools
- Someone who cares about health equity and the communities we serve
What You'll Walk Away With
- A professional portfolio of published work for a respected Chicago healthcare organization
- One-on-one mentorship from communications leadership
- Hands-on experience in nonprofit healthcare, community health, and health equity
- A front-row view of how a Federally Qualified Health Center serves its community
- A professional reference and real-world results to talk about in your next interview
