- Analyst, Embedded Networks – Regulation and Compliance
- Help build a new compliance function to protect customers in NSW embedded networks.
- Work on regulation and compliance processes that give customers access to free dispute resolution and clear prices.
- Advance your career with a small, highly skilled team in an independent government agency.
- Ongoing role commencing January 2027 based in Central Sydney, with flexible and hybrid working options.
About the role
We are looking for an Analyst to join the new Embedded Networks team in our Regulation and Compliance division.
From 1 July 2026, IPART has been responsible for monitoring and enforcing new requirements for embedded network sellers in NSW. Sellers supply electricity, gas, hot water and centralised air-conditioning to customers in embedded networks, including apartments, retirement villages, land lease communities and shopping centres.
Sellers must now be members of the Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) and publish their services and prices on their websites. IPART’s maximum prices and billing standards are expected to follow in 2027.
This is an opportunity to help establish a new compliance function and shape how it works.
Some of your key accountabilities will include
- Writing and presenting briefings and evidence to the Tribunal and senior staff to support decision-making.
- Responding to enquiries and complaints from customers, sellers and industry, and referring matters to partner agencies where needed.
- Monitoring sellers’ compliance, analysing data from EWON and other sources, and identifying non-compliance.
- Developing proportionate, risk-based responses to non-compliance, from education through to enforcement.
- Helping to develop procedures, templates, guidance and fact sheets for the new function.
- Reviewing and improving policies, procedures and reporting frameworks to align with legislative and business requirements.
- Working with the legal team to interpret the regulation and prepare compliance and enforcement actions.
About you
We’re looking for someone who
Enjoys analysing information and finding practical solutions.
Writes clearly and concisely for different audiences, from the Tribunal to members of the public.
Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Manages competing priorities and is comfortable working in a new team where processes are still being developed.
Remains calm and professional when handling enquiries and complaints.
Is motivated to learn and adapts quickly to change.
Experience in regulation, compliance or the energy sector would be an advantage but is not essential. Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional experience are required for this role. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, adaptability and teamwork are essential.
What we offer
- Competitive salary range of $116,493–$125,966 per annum, plus employer contributions to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Central Sydney office location with flexible working options.
- A supportive, inclusive and high-performing workplace.
