About the opportunity

The NSW Ambulance Recruitment Team is seeking a proactive, resourceful and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Talent Selection & Development Officer on a permanent full-time basis.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of capability-based assessments for specialist and leadership recruitment across NSW Ambulance.

The role has a strong focus on research, assessment design, stakeholder engagement and project coordination. You will work closely with hiring managers, subject matter experts and our specialised recruitment team to understand the requirements of different roles and develop tailored assessment activities that allow candidates to demonstrate their capabilities fairly and effectively.

You will be involved in assessment projects from initial research and stakeholder consultation through to developing assessment exercises, candidate instructions, assessor guides and marking criteria, as well as coordinating the practical aspects of assessment delivery.

We're looking for someone who enjoys researching new ideas, thinking critically, solving problems and taking ownership of projects. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and investing the time and effort required to produce high-quality, fit-for-purpose assessment materials. While the role will provide coordination support to broader recruitment activities during peak periods, the primary focus is on developing and delivering meaningful, evidence-based assessments rather than general recruitment administration.

Previous recruitment experience is desirable, but not essential. We're particularly interested in candidates who bring strong research, project coordination, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, along with a genuine commitment to delivering quality outcomes.

About the Recruitment Unit

Our unit has a number of recruitment portfolios including Leadership, Corporate, Control Centre, Graduate Paramedics, Specialist Paramedics and Qualified Paramedics. Within each portfolio, we have dedicated Recruitment Officers and Team Leaders who collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide recruitment advice, hiring support and recommendations in a timely and policy focused manner.

The Talent Selection & Development Officer works alongside the Leadership and Specialist Recruitment Teams, with a particular focus on developing and coordinating assessment activities. This includes partnering with stakeholders to understand the capabilities required for different roles and ensuring assessment approaches are relevant, fair, consistent and aligned with organisational needs.

Travel and Location Requirements

This role will require travel to various locations across NSW to support recruitment and assessment activities, including coordinating and facilitating Assessment Centres and undertaking site visits to develop an understanding of operational environments and the roles being recruited.

Candidates should be aware that regular statewide travel may be required, including time spent on the road and, where necessary, overnight stays. Travel will be planned in accordance with operational requirements, organisational policies and applicable industrial arrangements.
