Software Engr II

Bengaluru, India In person Full-time

We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience to join our Quality and Automation Team. The role will be approximately 80% automation and 20% manual testing, with primary responsibility for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation solutions for cloud-based and web-based cybersecurity applications, complemented by focused exploratory, functional, and release-validation activities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with product development, cybersecurity, DevOps, quality, and validation teams to accelerate delivery, improve coverage, and strengthen product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spend approximately 80% of the role owning the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks for cloud and web-based cybersecurity applications.
  • Build reusable automation libraries, utilities, services, and test infrastructure that support functional, integration, API, UI, system, and end-to-end validation.
  • Develop reliable automation using appropriate programming languages and frameworks, with emphasis on clean code, modular design, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Automate REST API, web UI, backend service, and cloud workflow validation across supported environments.
  • Integrate automated suites with CI/CD pipelines and enable scheduled, on-demand, and release-gating execution.
  • Analyze failures, identify product and framework defects, perform root-cause analysis, and drive timely resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Spend approximately 20% of the role on risk-based manual testing, including exploratory testing, complex scenario validation, usability checks, and release verification where automation is not practical or has not yet been implemented.
  • Define automation strategy, coding standards, review practices, quality metrics, and technical roadmaps.
  • Review code, mentor engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide technical leadership within the automation team.
  • Collaborate with product development, cybersecurity, DevOps, quality, and validation stakeholders to understand requirements and improve testability.
  • Translate suitable manual test scenarios into maintainable automated coverage, while documenting justified manual-only coverage and associated risks.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, execution reports, dashboards, traceability, and evidence required for releases.
  • Evaluate tools and technologies, lead proof-of-concept activities, and continuously improve automation efficiency, reliability, and coverage.
  • Follow secure coding, credential-management, data-protection, and cybersecurity best practices throughout the automation lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in software testing and test automation, with demonstrated delivery in roles primarily focused on automation and supported by hands-on manual testing.
  • Demonstrated experience as a core contributor or technical lead for automation solutions supporting cloud-based or web-based applications.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, design patterns, debugging, and source-control practices.
  • Practical experience in test design, exploratory testing, defect reporting, regression testing, and release validation, with the ability to determine which scenarios should remain manual and which should be automated.
  • Experience working in Agile product-development environments and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.

Mandatory Technical Skills

  • The following skills and experience are mandatory for this role:
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one automation-oriented programming language as Python, Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with web automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
  • Strong experience in API automation and validation using REST clients, libraries, or frameworks.
  • Experience with unit and test frameworks such as PyTest, JUnit, TestNG, NUnit, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including services, identity, networking, logging, and deployment concepts.
  • Experience in integrating automation into CI/CD systems such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows, code reviews, branching strategies, and build pipelines.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Good understanding of web technologies, authentication and authorization mechanisms, certificates, APIs, databases, and distributed-system fundamentals.
  • Ability to diagnose failures using logs, traces, monitoring data, and systematic debugging techniques.
  • Understanding of secure software-development practices and common cybersecurity concepts relevant to cloud and web applications.

Additional Skills

  • Experience automating cybersecurity products, security platforms, connected systems, or enterprise software.
  • Knowledge of security testing concepts, including vulnerability management, identity and access management, encryption, audit logging, and role-based access control.
  • Experience with performance, reliability, resilience, or security-focused automation.
  • Experience designing automation for multi-tenant SaaS platforms or microservices-based applications.
