About the role
Opensignal’s Market Insights team publishes independent, evidence-based analysis of how networks perform for the people who use them. Operators, investors, regulators and vendors rely on our work to test industry claims against real-world experience.
We aim to connect network data to commercial impact. When we show that one operator delivers faster downloads or more consistent video quality, we also ask what that means for subscriber growth, pricing power, investment returns or competitive position. We also look ahead. As mobile and fixed networks converge, and as 5G standalone, satellite, AI and 6G move from announcement to deployment, we use our data to assess what is likely to happen next and who is positioned to benefit. This role is for an analyst who wants to answer those questions in public, under their own name.
You will write and publish analysis, comment on live market developments and represent Opensignal in the press and at industry events.
What you will do
- Write short-form commentary and in-depth reports for our website. Each piece states a clear conclusion in the headline and uses the data to support it.
- Link network experience findings to commercial outcomes, working with Opensignal’s network experience and market performance data.
- Analyze fixed-mobile convergence, including bundled offers, fixed wireless access and the way operators compete across both markets.
- Look ahead. Use current data to assess where the market is heading and test forecasts and industry expectations against evidence.
- Comment on market developments as they happen, including mergers, spectrum auctions, policy changes and earnings.
- Follow and analyze topics such as 5G standalone and monetization, fiber and FTTx, D2D satellite, AI and 6G, with a focus on the region you cover.
- Speak at conferences, webinars and panels, and take part in press interviews, podcasts and live Q&A.
- Turn major findings into additional formats such as infographics, carousels, bylines and short videos, and contribute to our fixed broadband experience content.
- Work with Data Science, Engineering, Marketing and PR to find stories and verify every claim before publication.
What you will bring
- Experience in the mobile, broadband, telecom or technology sector, with a solid understanding of operator business models, network technologies and market dynamics.
- Familiarity with fixed and mobile markets, and an interest in how the two are converging.
- The ability to build an argument from quantitative and qualitative sources and to say clearly what the evidence does and does not show.
- Excellent written English and strong editing skills, with published work aimed at senior technical and enterprise audiences.
- Comfort presenting complex data in clear charts and in conversation, to specialists and non-specialists.
- Confidence speaking in public and dealing with journalists.
- Curiosity and independence: you research markets yourself and learn new tools without prompting.
- Flexibility with changing priorities and remote collaboration across time zones.
