As OpenText accelerates its AI transformation, Ireland has become a key strategic R&D hub for advanced AI development, applied AI platforms, sovereign cloud, cybersecurity, and trusted enterprise innovation.As part of this investment, we’re seeking a Lead AI Developer - a technical leader who will design and deliver scalable, production-grade AI systems with ownership of quality, performance, and real-world impact.

This role sits at the heart of both OpenText’s global AI strategy and the expansion of our Ireland R&D capability. You will play a lead role in building the next generation of sovereign AI for Europe, helping establish our EMEA Centre of Excellence for Agentic AI and Sovereign Cloud. Working at the forefront of multi-agent AI orchestration in regulated environments, you’ll shape how enterprise AI is built and operated at scale.

You’ll work across the full AI stack - spanning platform, orchestration, and application layer, rather than operating within a silo, giving you direct influence on enterprise-scale outcomes.You will lead work across the AI innovation lifecycle, from applied research and experimentation through architecture, engineering and enterprise deployment.

Crucially, this is not just about applying AI - it’s about creating it. You will make a lead contribution to foundational intellectual property in agentic AI, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity, helping define the technology and development standards that will power OpenText’s future, rather than simply implementing existing tools.

What the role offers

Lead applied AI research and experimentation, identifying emerging technologies and opportunities, setting research priorities, and guiding rapid prototyping and validation of technical feasibility, user adoption and business value.

Lead the definition and architecture of enterprise AI solutions, translating business challenges into clear scope, objectives, and scalable solution designs while assessing feasibility, risk, cost, and value.

Architect and lead the delivery of complex agentic AI solutions, establishing patterns for AI agents, reusable skills and distributed orchestration, with robust approaches to identity, memory, security, observability and evaluation; governing integration with MCP servers, MCP tools, MCP gateways, and API gateways.

Guide the selection and optimization of LLMs and SLMs using advanced prompt engineering, RAGraph RAGRAG, vectorization and model tuning, while overseeing integration with enterprise MCP servers, tools and APIs.

Lead AI solutions from prototype through integration and production deployment, establishing effective approaches to testing, environments, releases, configuration and operational readiness.

Champion modern AI-assisted engineering practices, using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Amazon Kiro, Gemini CLI and Cursor to improve development productivity, quality and delivery.

Collaborate across Product Development, Professional Services, IT, business teams, clients, suppliers and partners, aligning technical and business priorities and enabling successful delivery and knowledge sharing.

What you need to succeed

Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science or a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience leading complex AI programmes and engineering teams. A master's degree is strongly preferred.

8+ years’ experience across AI, software engineering and cloud technologies, with significant experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex, production-grade AI solutions. Experience in a major enterprise, research establishment, or AI startup preferred.

Deep technical expertise in agentic and multi-agent AI, including orchestration, agent workflows, evaluation, prompt engineering and MCP. Experience with Google ADK/A2A, Strands or LangGraph/LangSmith would be highly valuable.

Proven experience providing technical leadership across AI engineering teams, defining architectural patterns, engineering standards and best practices. Experience leading the design of complex agent-based solutions comprising multiple AI agents and overseeing MCP servers and MCP tool integrations.

Strong Python and software engineering expertise across several programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C++, together with React, REST, and APIs, combined with experience building scalable applications, services and APIs using modern languages and frameworks.

Experience designing AI solutions across leading platforms such as Google Vertex AI/Gemini, Amazon Bedrock/SageMaker or Microsoft Azure AI Foundry/Azure Machine Learning.

Strong understanding of the data and ML foundations required for enterprise AI, including machine learning, analytics, data pipelines and cloud data platforms.

Experience taking complex AI solutions from experimentation through production, addressing identity, memory, security, privacy, observability, traceability, scalability, performance and cost.

Strong understanding of DevOps/MLOps, AI security and responsible AI, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization and relevant security and governance standards. Experience leading the design and operation of DevOps and CI/CD capabilities using GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker, driving automation, scalability, quality, and deployment efficiency across development teams.
