Position Summary
At Parker Hannifin, you’ll sit directly at the intersection of global macroeconomics and real-world industrial strategy. As an Economics Spring Intern, you will join our in-house Corporate Economics team—embedded within Global Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)—and work side-by-side with our Corporate Economist. You’ll explore how shifts in central bank policy, commodity price swings, international trade flows, and industrial policy reverberate through global supply chains and multi-billion-dollar manufacturing end-markets.
If you love diving into data, answering tough questions, and translating complex economic realities into practical insights that business leaders rely on, this is the launchpad for your career.
What You’ll Actually Get to Do
During your 12 weeks with us, you’ll work on meaningful, visible projects with direct business impact:
- Track the Global Pulse: Monitor and analyze key macroeconomic indicators—GDP growth, inflation, employment dynamics, interest rates, and trade data—across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
- Tackle End-Market Research: Dig deep into diverse industrial verticals (such as aerospace, defense, energy, clean tech, and transportation) to uncover market trends, competitive shifts, and growth drivers.
- Build Econometric Models & Digital Tools: Use programming languages like Python, R, or Stata to clean complex datasets, run empirical analyses, and help automate economic indicator tracking.
- Leverage Professional Market Intelligence: Get hands-on daily experience with a dedicated Bloomberg Anywhere terminal to extract data, track market consensus, and monitor breaking geopolitical and financial developments.
- Evaluate Public Policy & Geopolitics: Examine how domestic and international policy changes, tariffs, regulatory shifts, and geopolitical developments affect manufacturing operations and customer demand.
- Bridge Data and Storytelling: Create clean, compelling visuals, slide decks, and executive briefing memos that translate heavy econometrics into actionable recommendations for non-economist leaders.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
